John, believe we are shooting for the first of April. We are actually going to start working in there tomorrow, just not officially opened. We are probably going to be in there every Wednesday, from 9-3.

John-you are right, do you want to copy that information to Lewark before I delete it?

RE: Arthur Hulser
Hi John. Regarding your message:

"Thank you for the information on Arthur Hulser, but can I ask where that information comes from?

I have always been told the he was from around Peoria, IL, but can find nothing other than state of birth information on census records.

Secondly, is Arthur relation?"

No, I'm not a relative. This info was from the WWII draft registration card that he filled out in Apr 1942 (the so-called "old man's draft"). I've been indexing these records for and, when I have time, I sometimes check on FG to see if I can provide additional information from those original records. Unfortunately I've already returned that batch of records otherwise I could provide you a copy for your files. At some point, hopefully soon, his record will be available for download from the site.

Hope this helps,

Joseph Bledsoe

I am wondering if you could look into this memorial for me.

I believe this is the son of Willard Paul Bledsoe and Susan Carroll Dick however the info I have on Joseph Bledsoe (s/o above) does not match what is on the memorial.

I have no documentation for my info thus the reason I am looking at this young man.

Would appreciate anything you could add.

Thanks so much for the work you do on Find A Grave.

Hi John,

I received an e-mail that you had taken a photo of his headstone. But there is nothing on his memorial.

RE: union cemetery transfers
That would be great! I will work on the transfers when I find time (soon, I hope). I have been gone also and just got back home. It is so great when contributors work together!

John alkire

Several days ago, you sent me an edit to change the death date of John, Memorial# 31348018, from January 6, 1901 to February 6, 1901.

I am unsure of the accuracy on the memorial since I did not create it. That said, I want to be totally sure of any changes, out of respect for the contributor who did create it.

So I'm wondering where you came up with the information you provided and how sure you are of its accuracy. I hope this does not offend you. That certainly is not my intent.

Thank you!

John-I will be more than happy to turn over any and all memorials that I have in Union Cemetery to you-it is not about the numbers with me, it is about remembering all the deceased, as I know it is with you. I will be gone for a few days, let me know what you decide! Thanks for all you do in Holt County! I don't now if you are a resident, but I am, and that is why I concentrate on this county.

RE: Bruntmeyers in Union Cemetery (Forest City)
Thanks John! New Liberty Cemetery is my pet project. My Great and Great Great Grandparents are buried there. My data is coming from Down Home I & II, so if you need any info, they are REALLY good sources. They only go to mid-to-late 90's though. I live in Holt County, so quite easy to check things out. I will continue to watch for the deceased in Union Cemetery for you, also go to Holt County Historical Society in Mound City, so can do research for you, if you wish. (Maybe you live locally too!)

You are welcome. If you want any transferred, please let me know. Also, any errors, or additions, I will be happy to add. I enjoy delving into researching families in Holt County, as that is where my paternal grandfather was raised.

Bakers in Union Cemetery
Thanks, John, for posting the photoes of the Baker stones. Holt county has been difficult for me because they don't seem to have many published resources (that I have found, at least), so Find A Grave is a gem.

Thank you very much for taking the photos and posting them for Bell and Balser Foster ( I notice his stone says Bolser, so I will need to research that further - the family spelled it "Balser" ) So nice of you to do this for me.

Bledsoe, Dick, & Roberts photos
Thank you so much for the photos of their headstones. These are my great grand uncles etc.

As far as Carroll Dick goes, he is named on the back of the headstone with info on where to look for hie grave. That is more than I had.

Thanks again
