Beech Cemetery Buncombe Co
Hi Mr. Metcalf - I see you have a photo request for a headstone located in Beech Cemetery in Buncombe County. Do you happen to know where this cemetery is?

Rass Shelton
Hi Wayne,

When attempting to fulfill a photo request for Rass Shelton I found he is actually buried at Piney Mountain Private Cemetery. A memorial page was created for him at that cemetery in 2009 (Find A Grave Memorial # 41451168) so it appears your page is a duplicate.

Piney Mountain Private Cemetery is across the road from Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery and behind the church.

Dwight Crowe
Hello, William
In your bio of Gabriel Metcalf, you have;
5. Elizabeth b. 1838 d. 3/8/1872 md. Noah Shelton. He was killed in the Civil War in Knox County KY. Children (a) Elbert (b) Nelson (c) Viola md. Bud Wallen.
Viola was the daughter of Elizabeth Metcalf Shelton but she was born after Noah Shelton died in the War, Viola married Bud WALDEN, not WALLEN.
Bud and Viola Walden are my great-grandparents. I have more information on them if you would like to have it.
Thanks, email;

Mary Jane "Jennie" Hensley Metcalf
Do you know who is sitting beside Jennie in your photo? It appears someone's shoulder is showing on her left side. I'd love to see the original, seems like this one has been cropped down.

Thank you for all the info that you have supplied on my Uncle George who was KIA during WWII. His ship was blown up and his body never found. There is a memorial stone at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Candler in his honor that was placed there by his family in 2002 after much research to find out what happened to him. Once again, thank you

I moved her after the first message, I noticed the obit didnt actually say Interment or burial just funeral Service, and I was so proud of myself for figuring out Lake Hills was New Hope. would you want me to transfer her to you?

James Metcalf SR & Sarah LNU (Maney?)
Hi William,

First of all thank you for all of your input regarding the Metcalf Ancestors and your support to Find a Grave. I have been working on my family history and my wife's family which includes the Metcalfs. My wife is the granddaughter to Myrtle Loutishy Metcalf w/o William Burgess Lamb and d/o Milton Millard Metcalf (1878-1949) and Ida Jane McIntosh (1892-1981).

My wife's grandparents include James Metcalf SR (1750-1823) and Sarah LNU (1755-1810). We are trying to find out who is Sarah's parents and thought you might know. Some family trees reports that Sarah is a "Maney" whose parents are Martin Maney & Keziah Vann but this does fit the timeline regarding Sarah's DOB. Do you have any concrete evidence as to Sarah's identity?

My family members have always been told that they have Indian Blood which would make sense regarding the background of Keziah Vann. Also, my wives ancestors (Lambs and Metcalfs) come from Buncombe, Madison, & Yancey Co NC.

Thanks for your help and information you can provide.

I believe this is the same person that is actually Robert William Cooley, born 6/28/1833 in Waverly, Humphreys, Tennessee and died 5/02/1903 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee.

Selenia Marcenia Briggs Metcalf
I went to the Metcalf Cemetery today and don't remember seeing Selenia Metcalf's stone. Do you know if she has one or is it unmarked? I know there are TONS of graves that have no names and wondered if one of these might be Selenia's. If not I will go back and try to find her stone. Thanks for any help.
