Nick names
I am sorry, but I am no longer adding any other names but what is written on the stone. I have had some edits that are getting beyond the normal, not from you, but from others (Edward= Eddie, Ed, Eddy, William= Will, Willie, Willy, Bill, Wm.) What do I add? It is a hard decision. Do I add the name the individual chose to be on the stone, their legal name or what others remember them by. So, due to others I have decided to just leave what is inscribed on the stone. I hope you understand.

first names and middle names(Tuor)
Hi, I suppose I would write Elizabeth Mary...I believe her nick name was 'Lizzie'. Most of the women ancestors Swiss/German used there middle names as first names and first names as middle names....and that was because their parents always called them by their middle names. My grandmother at one Point decided to officially Switch the names. I also have instances where the fist names are the same, but the middle ones are different. So my advice would be to perhaps add the Variation to the bio and use what the grave Stone says for official. thanks :)

Hans & Cecilia (Odland) Kalberg

Thank you for photographing Hans' and Cecilia' grave markers and adding them onto their memorial pages.

Cecilia must somehow be related to me but, as of yet, I don't know how.

Clara Carrow 76941973
Did you by chance write down the dates from the headstone photos you took? Can't make out the date of death for sure on Clara Carrows headstone due to the shadow.

Hattie Hass
Hattie first daughter died as an infant, then she had my great grandfather and another boy.....then she had the twin girls. One twin died 7 days later and Hattie died. The other twin, named Hattie and the 2 boys traveled back from SD to WI with Charles. Hattie's sister Lena, took care of them. Then the 2nd twin died and is buried in the Franklin cemetery in WI. Charles and Hattie were originally from WI, around Racine and Franklin (outside of Milwaukee). I had some of these stories from my grandmother, who is named Hattie, and was able to find some records and the cemeteries to piece everything together. It's a sad story. Hattie's mother Julia also died young and I still can't find her maiden name.

RE: Hass
Very cool, thank you. I know she is buried there, but don't know if they put it on the stone. My Grandparents were married in Colton, SD. I will check on that date for the Sterling memorial. The students are testing today and I have my whole morning to grade papers etc. so I have some time now. for some reason it blocked Find A Grave this morning, but now it's working. Appreciate you going out there again! Jessica

Thank you, and I totally understand. Can't believe you all don't have snow! After all this cold weather here in IL, it's to get into the 50s next week. Do you happen to know any of the Hass, Guth, Mayer, Halseth, Glatz, Muller, Sterling, Van Duyn surnames? Madison is where many of my relatives still live and the Franklin cemetery is where most of them are located. They tore down the old Franklin school where my great grandmother's generation and after all went and I was able to visit the site where my mom's 1st cousin built a memorial wall out of the bricks of the school. I even have one of the bricks. Jessica

Hattie Hass
I you happen to go back to the Franklin Cemetery, would it be possible if you get a picture of the other side of that stone that has the info for Hattie the mother? It looks like someone took a brush to the stone because it had mold or fungus growth on it before and it was flaky. I don't think it is a new stone because you can see some discoloration where the fungus would have been. Very curious as to what happened there. Hattie is my 2 greats grandmother. Thanks again, Jessica

Hi, I noticed you added a picture for Lane Hass and it's very legible!!! Did you clean the stone? Thank you if you did. When I took the other picture back in '04, the writing was very hard to read. Thank you for the update, Jessica
