Remember me
RE: Mott connection
The area that I live is Mott's Township, established 1868 as a tax division for then Clarendon County. The Mott's of this area didn't create many documents unfortunately. Was hoping, saw where you had a memorial for a young Kennedy and thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks again

Remember me
Mott connection
Just noticed your name, wondering if you have possible connections to the Motts of Florence/Darlington/Sumter Counties of South Carolina from the 1700/1800 time frame?
Thanks, My oldest Maternal connection is a Mott.

Elizabeth Torrance
Wanted to let you know that the memorial for Elizabeth Torrance on Find A Grave is noted as unmarked and location of grave not know. There was a request for a photo of his memorial in the past and there was no record of a burial. Checked with the Morton Cemetery Association and they have no record of this burial in their files. I went out to Morton and walked the cemetery and there is no marker in place for this burial.

Rebecca Myers
I failed to find Rebecca's headstone today at New Covenant Bapt. Church Cemetery. I probed down more than a foot on both sides of her Husbands headstone (Willis Milton Walker) in hopes of finding it. I also probed beside (Willis Walker) her father-in-laws. I found nether head nor foot stone.... I did take pictures of Willis Sr. and Willis Jr. headstones and cleaned them both and sat them more uprite. The new pictures will be on their site.... But I'll keep looking for her.

RE: Pictures at Mount Vernon UMC
You are so welcome! I enjoy getting out and hunting… I combine these trips with hunting for my family as well! I took lots of photos yesterday… many of the cemeteries I visited didn't have photos to go with the memorials. If there's others you are interested in… let me know or tag them with a request. It will take a while to get all of them loaded but I'll catch any you want first! Take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Blessings, Dana

RE: Annie Harrington Hill Headstone Pic
You are very welcome for all the Hill photos. We did have a gorgeous day for a change which made the photos better for this photographer.

Check Annie's Harrington name on her family connections. For some reason, I think it came through her mother's family. Did I see this on her family listed on the memorial? Forgot to check before leaving you this message.

Regards. (I really like this volunteer work.) Let me know about Annie's other name.

New Covenant Bapt. Church Cem.
The headstone I recovered underground at New Cov. Cemetery was not that of Rebecca Myers. It was Caroline Myers.

I'm Not 100% positive and if I'm not i'll let you know tomorrow after I go out to said cemetery. But a few weeks back I found a very old headstone laying flat about 3 inches underground, so I dug it up and cleaned it and placed it upright. As I can recall i'm positive it read Rebecca Myers, died 1888. I know for a fact it was a Myers but not really sure in regards to the first name... I'll let you know the complete inscription upon it tomorrow.

THE cemetery your relative is in has only three marked graves.Gwen McBride, who is buried there had a plot map of the cemetery. She passed before I could copy it. She has two sons living else-where, but still has property in Hughsville-one mile from the cemetery. When I can catch one of them I will see if they can find it. I can take some pictures of the cemetery if it will help. It is small. My name is Jim Allison and I live in Monarch,Mt.-only 12 miles from the cemetery. My phone is 406-236-5333.Email Hope this helps a little-Jim

Artha Watkins
I stopped this morning and searched Cane Creek Baptist Church cemetery for 'Artha Watkins'. I did not find this grave. The only one that I did find was 'Link Watkins' with a foot marker and no head stone. Sorry

Mary Sanchez Mott
I am a 3rd cousin of Mary Sanchez Mott on my mother's (Sanchez) side.
I am always delighted to find living relatives through Findagrave or Ancestry because I deal mostly with those that have gone before.

Are you aware of the celebration in St. Augustine, FL for the 450th anniversary of the city's founding. The Solana and Sanchez families were the first european families and we are planning a big get together over the Labor day weekend.

I have much information on teh sanchez families if you ae interested. You may check my Find A Grave page and Sanchez virtual cemetery for what I have found.

If you are in any way interested in communication I would be glad share any information I have.

Gloria Lowrey
Eliza Jane (Rose) McDonald
Hi Linda,

This is in regard to the caption which you wrote underneath the death certificate that you posted on Find A Grave memorial # 35714483 for Eliza Jane Rose McDonald. She is buried in Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moore Co., NC. You mentioned that you had found no documentation showing Eliza’s maiden name to be Rose.

The 1850 census for Moore Co. shows 14-year-old Elisa J. Rose (notice slight difference in spelling of first name) as a daughter of Thomas Rose and his wife Mary Rose. This girl would have been the right age to be Eliza Jane Rose who is believed to be the wife of Malcom Alexander McDonald.

What are your thoughts?

Daniel Shumate
I left off that Daniel Shumate 1734 father was John Shumate 1708. There are many William and Daniel Shumates. I am new to this "hobby" and it is very interesting indeed.

RE: Susannah Caroline Vannoy Shumate
Yes, Daniel is quite common and I have two. Daniel B. Shumate 1788-1840 who was m. to Lucy Bobbitt. This Daniel's father was William Shumate 1753-1810, who m. Frances Norman. Then I have Daniel Shumate who was born 1834 and was Sarah Bowley? James?. Both had sons named Daniel to complicate things.. Thanks for the link and the info.

RE: Susannah Caroline Vannoy Shumate
Thank you and certainly you should keep her. My relation is on the Shumate Side. Daniel Shumate is from Virginia,in the Elk River Area. I do not know about Frankie. It is possible she would be buried in VA, as a lot of this Shumate line came to Wilkes County, but went back to VA, or were returned to VA for burial. I do not know about the Vannoys. I do know Daniel to be from VA, and the Shumates liked repeating names. You may want to check VA and look at "Frances," as this was a common Shumate name, as was Caroline which was your grandmother. Best wishes and good luck. Always nice to bump into branches in the tree. If you have any additional info on Frankie, I may be put more info together. But, right now , my best guess is she is was buried in VA.
