Alaska Jack Banse update
I asked my husband about the memorial for Jack. The red thing is a heavy duty jack. My husband says the jack is called a Handy Man Jack. Fits all that Jack Banse did in his life.

Alaska Jack Banse
Hi Carrie,
My family was good friends with Jack and his wife. His Iowa grave is three miles from me in the country where he grew up and we placed flowers there last night. By chance I decided to look on Find A grave and saw the Alaska Marker which I am so delighted you added. Jack did really love Alaska. He built a cabin near where he is buried and every summer he spent a month there then came back to Iowa to work. He was the man that delivered gas to fill the tanks at my parents gas station on highway 30 near Keystone, Iowa for years and had other jobs through the years. He was just like a member of the family. I would see him in Keystone sometimes and I always got a hug. Come spring when our asparagus was coming up we could always expect a visit or two from Jack. he loved to visit and he loved my asparagus. I think about him most in the spring and miss those visits. It was his wish that part of his remains be buried by his parents grave in Benton Co. Iowa and the rest be buried in Alaska near his cabin which is the picture on the funeral card. I will go back to the grave and take a picture of Jack's plaque attached to the back of his parents stone for his page. It has just been put there and I didn't know that, but I am so glad. The wooden cross wasn't going to last very long and it worried me that was all he had to mark his grave. Jack was a kind, good man that I miss and am so glad was part of my life. His son Steve lives in Alaska so he took the urn back and the marker was his idea. Not sure the meaning of it either but will do some checking.
Again thanks for the wonderful picture and know that Jack was special to many people.

Hi Carrie - Thank you so much for taking and posting the nice photos to the Renk memorials last week. I wasn't sure if you knew you sent the message to Find A Grave, instead of me, but they ended up forwarding it to me today. Thanks again. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

RE: Rocky Springs Cemetery
I have a friend that may know who to get in touch with about the cemetery. I've never been there either, but grew up about 20 miles from it. I will send her your request. her name is Beth Austin and she is one of my Findagrave friends. I hope you'll be able to help.
