McMillan ancestry, etc
Hi Art! I'm in the process of trying to link all the Rev. Dr. John McMillan descendants on findagrave -- a huge task! -- and I've seen your name a lot. Thank you for all the work you've done! It sounds like your wife is a McMillan descendant on the Catherine McMillan Allen line. Does she attend the McMillan reunions that have been held for the last 112 years?

RE: Charles Spieth
You're very welcome. Pure chance I found it! I have been looking for him for a while--turns out he is buried in a non-endowed lawn. I had been through there before but this time, his marker was visible. Especially, for a Civil War Vet, I had really wanted to locate him. So, very glad to have had success finally. Sue

Elzy Dush
Hello! You requested a photo of Elzy Dush's tombstone in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, MI. There are two memorials created for Elzy and your request was on the newer memorial. I posted photos of Elzy's stone on the original memorial so you will not receive notice that it's there, but I wanted you to know.

Unfortunately the sun was in the wrong position to get a great photo of the stone but I posted what I took this morning. I will go back when it is cloudy or the sun is further west to try to get a better photo.

Yes, you may use the photos. I will take the other photos of the Potterfs you have requested if I get back in the area of the cemetery. If you find out anything about Ola, let me know. Those stones are very difficult to read.

RE: Martha Whyte
Hi Art,
Thanks! Spring Grove's website can make research easy. You asked about other Whyte's there. Only found Thomas, who is buried next to Martha - born in Lee, MA on 6 Dec 1831. Died 2 Feb 1863 of typhoid fever. Father named Alexander. No mother's name give in record.
Also Judith Whyte, born in 1940.

RE: Martha Whyte
Hi Art,
Martha T, Whyte's burial record says that she was born in England in Jan 1839. She died July 5, 1863. COD says "tumor". Her parents are listed as Richard and Jane Thrusfield - who are also buried in this lot. Maybe this is not the Martha Whyte you were looking for?
Cemetery record says that there are 22 folks buried in Section 52 Lot 192. I did not find ANY markers in that lot. Last names of folks in this lot are:
Bussey, Ireton, Rinear, Thrusfield, Ward and Whyte (Thomas - maybe Martha's husband?). This is an old section of the cemetery and usually these older lots were filled with family or extended family.

RE: Gerken, Badenhop, Ludeman
Feel free to use the photos whenever and however you choose. Next time I get that way I'll check out Henry's stone.

Anna Ludeman
Posted photo - it appears that the name is spelled LUDEMAN (no "r") on the stone. In this area both names appear but my experience has been that without the "r" is more common.

You're right, there's never been a better time than the present for doing family research, it's amazing what the internet can do.

Thank you for posting the photo of Joseph Potterf's headstone. The cemetery is in such a sad state of affairs. Luckily that 1981 transcription survives. Thank you!

You're welcome. I'm not sure I was supposed to be driving through the graves on the west side of the road, but there was a space wide enough for a car so I took it. Glad I found this for you.

Heidi Stenson

Hi there!

I have been leisurely working to fill in family info into a family tree via Ancestry for both my family and that of my husband, James Earl Stenson.  He is a GG Grandson of Fabian Yendow and Elizabeth Jane Nankervis.  His maternal  G Grandmother was Lucy Yendow Kingston.

Jim was raised in Calumet. MI.  We now live in my home town of Green Bay, WI but hope to retire to our home in Eagle Harbor, MI in the next few years.  A recent vacation brought us back to EH where I spent endless hours at the Pine Grove Cemetery.  This is where many of the Kingston family are buried.  Next weekend I intend to view the Yendow grave sites in Eagle River, MI where Fabian and Elizabeth are buried.  John and Lucy Yendow Kingston are buried in Calumet, MI near other Kingston family members.

Would you be willing to share any info including photos you may have on this side of the family?  It is exciting to see bits and pieces come together to build our family tree.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Heidi Stenson

RE: Hannah Brown Photo Request
Hi Art

Amazing, I had no idea that cemetery existed; I've driven by that dirt access road a hundred times since 1970. It's very lovely, nestled behind a cow pasture. I'll be happy to get some more photos for you. Look for them within the next couple of weeks

Take care

RE: John and Esther Foutz
You are so welcome, glad I could find them. Buried beside them are two Foutz(s) boys one son of M. ? & M ? Fouts and one stone says son of H. & M. Fouts. It looks like one was probably an infant and one lived to be 8 years old. Do either of these ring a bell? Their names are very hard to make out so I will have to go back to the cemetery and see if I can figure them out. If you have any info on them please let me know, if not I will let you know after I visit there again. Thanks, Pat

RE: Elizabeth Potterf
You may need to bring something to cut the overgrowth. It was hard to get back into there. Make sure you bring something to protect your hands. If I remember right, there were some broken glass and junk dumped back there. I should have taken some photos of it. It broke my heart to see it.

Ralph Millege Potterf
On Find-A-Grave, children are linked to parents, not vice versa, so I cannot link William and Laura Potterf to their son Ralph. You can request that the manager of Ralph Potterf's memorial make the links, however. Good Luck ~ Jan
