I just wanted to let you know that a headstone has been placed for my father; Lonny D. Jacobs located at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Newtonia, Missouri. I have a photo if you would like it or if you have the chance, perhaps you would like to go and take the photo yourself. Thank you so much for your original photo.

Thank you for your work taking pictures of the stones in the cemeteries in the area. I live in Arkansas and can't get to the cemetery to do it.

You have posted some excellent photos from this cemetery. I know it is hard to get to, on private property and arrangements must be made with the property owner. I have a great many photo requests for there. If you will let me know if/when you plan to return, I will start submitting them. I know the markers have all been photographed for the Barry Co. cemetery site, but they don't care to add them to F-A-G memorials.

Just re-read your note under the pic of Mary's stone and realize you only said she was in the vicinity of L.I. Hudson, not WW. Sorry!

Thank you SO much for your trouble. Forgive me, however, for remaining as frustrated as ever regarding the birth/death dates of Mary, which you have indicated are too worn to read. I was hoping to be able find out that someone had misread the stone originally and that rather than 1880-1882, she was 1870-1872. This would then make it possible for her mother to be Laura Ione Walker, who died in 1871. Otherwise, I would have to speculate whether it was possible for her mother to be W.W.'s second wife, Elizabeth. Also - you have indicated that Mary is buried near W.W. and L.I. Walker. Actually, W.W. is buried in Granby Cemetery, where his second wife is buried. I can only assume that ALL of the stones in the Old Newtonian are as worn as Mary's, and it was for you to assume that William was there with Laura...=) Anyway, this will probably have to remain one of my mysteries. Thanks again for your help!! Pam

|Pamela Johnson Mortensen||Carrie Hudson|
Thank you so much for this photo of Carrie's stone. I wonder if you can help me with her OTHER memorial...If you look at #35724379 (this one at Granby Memorial), you can see that she is sort of buried twice...Carrie Hudson, daughter of CC and Mary. No birth date given, but age in yers, months, and days. The duplication wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't that one memorial has her dying at 15 and the other at 22! You have indicated on your recent pictures that you were "deciphering" old worn stones. So - #1 - were you able to determine that Carrie's stone at Old Newtonia actually has the dates notated on the FindAGrave memorial? And #2 - how close are you to Granby Memorial? Is it possible to get a picture of that stone?? I know I'm dreaming to think I can get you to just run out there and find out, but I am fascinated by the descrepancy here and just wondering... =) Thanks again fort all your hard work! Pam 47776661

|Pamela Johnson Mortensen||Laura Ione (Lewis) Walker|
Thank you so much for Laura's photo! Hard to read (I like to scrape the lichens off the dates when possible, but not sure it would have helped in this case...) Here is the mysterious case of Laura Ione Lewis Hudson (1851-1871) According to cemetery records, she was "wife of WW Hudson". Buried in the same cemetery with both of them, there is a child named Mary Hudson (1880-1882), inscription reads "Dau of WW and L.I. Hudson". Yet this child was born and died ten years after her 20-yr old mother died. Trying to unravel this, hoping someone would photograph Mary's grave to see if the memorial is a misprint...Or perhaps we can consider that the cemetery made a mistake and the child is actually the daughter of WW and his second wife. Thank you for what you were able to do - baby Mary remains a mystery!
