TMitchell
Fellow genealogy enthusiast in Blount County
Cyndee,

I have also been photographing graves in Blount County. I have been doing genealogy since the 1970s. I would love to find someone who shares my enthusiasm for genealogy to go photographing graves in the Blount County area.

My husband and I go every weekend (weather permitting) and take photos for about 2-3 hours. He likes looking up the military history on the military headstones. We are also trying to contact some of the curators for a couple of the older cemeteries to get permission to clean some of the stones from the early 1800s to preserve the information on them before they are completely gone.

Let me know if you are interested in getting together some weekend to photograph graves.

J M McCollum
Cyndee,
How did you ever find the marker for J M McCollum? It is so worn. I was trying to figure out if he is related to other McCollum's in my tree. Do you have a list that tells of those buried here and the location? Do you recall who this infant was buried next to? Lastly, do you know where the Brown Cemetery is/was in Blount County? My great grandfather McCollum has a sister and brother-in-law who were both buried in Brown between 1924 and 1931, according to their death certificates. Last name was Kerr, and there are lots of other Kerrs here in this cemetery. I don't know if that Brown Cemetery might now be in Loudon County or not. Any help appreciated. Thanks for the photo of J M McCollum

RE: Sarah Kidd
So many older graves are lost in old cemeteries that have been abandoned. Glad this one was cleaned up finally.
Again, I do appreciate your trying to find it and the fine work you are doing.
