Thanks for the information on the Townsend's. Please don't go to any trouble looking at location. I do have the lot and space numbers now, so if I'm ever there I will be able to find them. Was just surprised the last person missed it. Tho I know that can be easy to do. The larger cemetery's can be over bearing, and if you hurry at all things are so easy to miss. I can't thank you enough.... And thanks for all the other people you have helped over the years this site has been a blessing for me! Hope you the best day ever. Jo

Minnie Townsend
I suspect her parents are in that cemetery. But all I know is the last name Aldrich. Keep an eye out for that name if your back out that way. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for adding Minnie Townsend stone. Someone looked for me in the past and did not find her stone next to her husband Francis Townsend. I assume it's not close to him then. I do not know the person you mentioned next to her. Her own son did not know if she had a stone when I ask him. Thanks again so much! Jo Townsend.

Traci's Mom
Token you left for Traci Fields
Thank you very much for the token you left for my angel daughter Traci. She was a wonderful gift from GOD, and she's in my heart and mind every single day. Her passing has left major holes in the hearts of her family and friends.

I appreciate you helping to reach my goal of 5,000 tokens by her birthday, November 20th. Actually, thanks to you and other findagravers, so far today Traci has received 6,026 flowers/tokens. That makes my family and I extremely happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'm thankful and blessed for your kindness. GOD bless you for your heavenly heart.

I am so overwhelmed with all the findagrave friends requesting flowers/tokens for my Traci. Thank you ever so much!

This is something I wrote for Traci:

It was a cold, quiet night at the cemetery. The snow was falling gently to the ground. The only sound that could be heard was the whistling of the wind. Off in the distance I suddenly heard the tiny sound of jingling bells. I looked around and wondered where the life was in the stillness of this cemetery.

As I gazed around, I saw a ray of moonbeam shining down on a small Christmas tree.

I thought to myself, "This is where the life is in the cemetery!"

Ring the bells this holiday season in memory of those you love.

My maternal grandmother (Vada Wells-Herring) kept a lot of photos, so she did all the work. I just scanned them. Hope you enjoy them.

Thank you for pointing her month of death out to me. Typo on my part, must have been looking at something else when I entered the information. Red

RE: Elisa Varble
You're welcome! Elisha is my 3g-grandfather. I'm going back up there in the next several weeks - I'll see if I can get a better shot. It was so sunny the photo is a little tough to see. I may do a charcoal rubbing. I'll look again for Della, too. Maybe I can get to some of your other photo requests then, too. Not sure exactly where they are, tho. (Probably a few corn fields over from the corn field this one was in!!!!)

I'm not sure how you are connected to Elisha, but if you want to compare trees, let me know.

Take care,

Hey Terri, on the Woodlawn "open" list, it looks like this one is very close to Juanita Tompkins. You might want to claim it, too.

See you in a few weeks, hopefully! If I plan to go out on an "off" day I'll let you know.

That's the spirit!
Just what we are looking for! I will let the yahoo moderator (Cheri) know that you are interested. Thanks for being so willing to go to this neglected little South Bay jewel.

Yours truly,

Hi Terri. Some of us have noticed that you are doing photos here in Compton, and have inquired about maps. There is a small group of us that go there on planned Saturday mornings, and we are in the process of photographing the entire cemetery. We recognize that it is one of the oldest cemeteries in the area, with quite a few Civil War soldiers buried there, etc. and we too feel that it deserves some TLC. We have an excellent set of maps (approx. 30 pages). Would you be interested in joining our group? If so, I will have the moderator of our yahoo group send you an invitation to join, and if you accept, you will receive e-mails that will update you on when we are planning to be there, and also you will have a chance to give your input on what dates you are available. The maps are extremely helpful in fulfilling photo requests.

I hope to hear from you.
