RE: Lucy Mae (Brown) Thomas

RE: Lucy Mae (Brown) Thomas
FYI: there IS a cemetery named Mansfield Cemetery. Can he be there??

Do you have a copy of his DC (death certificate) that I could see? Maybe that would help.

I'll check back with you later tonight.

RE: Lucy Mae (Brown) Thomas
Celestine, you created both the entries for her mother - YOU can delete the duplication yourself quit easily. You need to delete this one:

Record added: May 30, 2014
Find A Grave Memorial# 130609462

Go to top of the pg, look for the "delete" link ... hit it and follow directions. That simple!

Yes I will link to Lucy now.

RE: Lucy Mae (Brown) Thomas
I see that I did in the past link this couple to another child. That was apparently before I was encouraged to discontinue linking to Unknowns, or it was an oversight on my part.

Per Find A Grave guidelines, and I quote: "Location of body unknown is used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days." ...... this couple has been listed as Unknown burial location for 2 years now. You run the risk of having the names deleted, if Administration sees fit to do so. The site is called "Find A Grave" because knowing and locating the final disposition of an individual is the main purpose of the web site.

Going through you list on memorials I see you have a LARGE number of Unknown burials. Have you noticed that you have some Unknown burials that have headstone photos on them?? This means they are in fact in a cemetery somewhere. You should go through your existing memorials and correct the burial locations of these names to coincide with the cemetery photos. While doing this you may discover that others have already created an entry in the correct location. You will need to check your names carefully for duplications while doing this.

As for linking Lucy to her parents, the best I can do is add their names and dates to her pg giving reference back to your entries for them. I hope you can locate their burial location in the future because I like to see families linked ... you just have to know WHERE they are first. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of this web site which is to "Find A Grave".

Celestina, I have more Cato's that I have set up in other cemeteries. Have you checked the 3 in Crown Hill cemetery?

RE: Elko City Cemetery II
Thank you!
I'm still hoping to find some of their marked graves, Celestina.
There are still a few graves which have not been photographed in Elko Cemetery II, so I'll keep my figures crossed. If we don't locate any markers, I have a picture I can place on your memorials which I use for unmarked graves. This way other researchers do not spend time and energy looking for them again.
My Best,
It will be in the fall before I can get down there to look.. too many snakes there this time of year. :)

Find A Grave states that you must enter your relationship to the person you are requesting a transfer for.
If the person is within the Guidelines (as set by Find A Grave, not us), there will be no problem.

I actually really wanted to do this one since I had always missed them. Sect 37 goes FAST. because they are easy. But I also wanted to see this one through to the end. I just wish it had had more info on it.
Happy hunting

RE: Admin Support
It looks good. But they won't do it - and maybe not even respond - if they have to look up your volunteer number.

I would say what you said, only add, after "I would like to connect them to their parents"... etc.... add

"and I would like to add considerable family information and photographs. Please consider transferring her memorial - # [yadayada put in her memorial #] to me,

Celestina Coleman # 47812971.

Thank you so much."

Try it and see! :)

RE: Admin Support
Celestina, if you sent the message to, did you send the memorial number? Did you tell them that the creator/manager of the site is declared officially inactive and her volunteer page dismantled? If not, I would re-send it, saying it's your second email but you were concerned that you didn't include enough information in the first. Ask if you can be named "Steward" of this "Fallen Graver's" memorial for this one only, since Ophelia is a family member, and stress that you hope to actively manage it because you want to add a great deal of family information and photographs and fill in all the missing family data. Then give it a couple of weeks.

If they tell you "no" I'd be surprised. If you don't hear back by, say, July 20th, let me know. I will find out more for you. I have two F.a.G. friends who know much more than I do, and I'll see what they have to say. I trust them.

RE: Karlotta Williams
You probably already know this, but when you load photos, there's a menu box just above "Select File" that defaults to "Grave". If you open that dialog box, you can select "Person" {or even "Family"} and the "Person" photos will always stay on top, no matter what else is uploaded later. It's a nice feature.
And you're welcome! It's an honor to honor her this way...

RE: Karlotta Williams
Wow. Thanks for clearing that up. Glad you got a photo up. I saw that it had first been entered at the wrong vet's cemetery, and when I couldn't find any record of her, figured you just were searching and hoping. Glad it worked out. I'll forward your note on to Kristie, who was going to try after me...

Karlotta Williams
Hi, fyi, Karlotta is NOT in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. I have checked in the master info kiosk, and had the office personnel check to see if perhaps she has a pending burial. They have no record of her coming through their system, past, present or future. I have requested admin to remove the photo request from the SVNC database, which they did, but then I see it has been reposted. I again requested it be removed, and contacted the young lady who was scheduled to go out to look for it, so she wouldn't waste her time and gas. She asked if you knew what was going on, and so I thought I'd contact you. Just fyi. Hopefully you find out where she is really buried, or who has her ashes, or if she could be buried under a different name. But there is no Karlotta Williams at SVNC. Sorry!

Please contact the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery office to obtain the plot location of this grave. St Mary's has taken over the operation of the Sacramento County Veterans Cemetery. Their phone # is (916) 452-4831. I have walked the cemetery looking for the grave and wasn't able to find it.

Thank you

RE: Vernon Sentell
By the way, I have been thinking about how to retake Vernon's photograph. I don't know how you feel, but I'm a little bothered about the cyclone fence behind it. Blurring the background did not help much. Would you mind if I try putting something behind it, perhaps some greenery and try again?
