RE: Priscilla Sprague Hammond
Yes, I believe you are confusing your Priscilla's. And though I am not 100% sure, as I didn't go to their wedding, hehe, Priscilla Spraque Hammond West was born the same year as Rev. Thomas West and died in 1779. Rev. Thomas then marries Deborah Foster one year later in 1780. If she was not married to Rev. West, why is she called Priscilla West, the wife of Benjamin Hammond on her headstone? That's one. And two, if Rev. Thomas married the daughter of Priscilla and Benjamin, they would have had to do it around 1757, as she dies in 1758. She would have been 17 at most, and Rev. Thomas would have been 50 at that time. Logical for an esteemed Reverend? And then, he was already married to Drusilla Presbury, my 6th great grandmother, in 1757. Drusilla dies in 1763 and Rev. Thomas marries Priscilla Sprague Hammond, the widow of Benjamin Hammond, the same year. So me thinks it would have been difficult to marry the daughter of Priscilla and Benjamin, being that she was dead, or, during a time when Rev. Thomas was married to another woman. The history you refer to is incorrect, which is fairly common. And not that I know more than anyone else, but I am the 6th great grandson of this man and know his history pretty well. Hope you enjoyed my humor. All meant in fun. :-)
