RE: Davis and Ligon Cemetery
This is off subject of Davis and Ligon Cemetery but looking through your tree I found some Hobgood's. My grandfather's sister Sallie Hart married Egbert "Bert" Hobgood who was a brother to Norman Hobgood that you have listed. Bert was a mail carrier for years here in Hopkins Co., Ky and his son after him. I have a photo of him on a mail wagon. My cousin has a photo of their father and some family here at Ancestry. I could not get it to load earlier but will try again later or tomorrow.

RE: Davis and Ligon Cemetery
In the 1850 census for Taylor Co., Ky., there is a Cynthia Davis 22 yr, Thomas 3 yr and James 1 yr in the Gaddie household. Taylor Co., Ky is about 80-100 miles east of Hopkins Co., Ky. Someone has this as being her using this census with her name.

In 1850 Hopkins Co., Ky census there are lots of Gaddy folks as neighbors of John and Sarah Davis. The two names are spelled different, Gaddy and Gaddie. I have noticed a lot that info written down by census takers are not always accurate.

This could possibly be Cynthia using her maiden name. I am sure you have seen this and checked it all out though. I have not checked all other Davis's etc and just throwing it out there.

RE: Davis and Ligon Cemetery
This cemetery is just a few miles from where I grew up. I was told about it a few years ago and have been planning on going there with an older friend I grew up with. He knows the people who owns the property where it is so we have had plans on going there. His wife has been sick and her and his son both has passed away recently so that has delayed our going. I will go with one of my kids because my friend is not able to go any more. It is up on a hill and he has not been well enough to go and I have put off going myself waiting and wanting to go with him. As soon as it is possible to go, weather warming up etc, I will be going and taking photos and adding them to this site. I do not know what stones may be there, I am hoping all of them.

The stone was already broken in 1983 when the Webster County Cemetery Books were being made. I will have to check the next time I am at Big Hill and see if it is leaning against the bottom of the stone.

RE: Lillie T. Metcalfe
Bob, I did manage to find her obit. I'm behind with some of my memorials. I created one for her several years ago because I had shot the picture of her gravestone. So glad you had this info for Mrs. Metcalfe. While I'm not related to her, I did try to find the name of her mother thru Ancestry but was not successful. If you have it, I'll be glad to add it to her memorial. Unfortunately, the obit was not much help.

Bob, I'll be glad to help with your links/changes, however, if you could use the edit button on the right top corner of the memorial you would like changed, I would appreciate it. This way it will not only take me directly to the proper cemetery, but the memorial in question - which will make changes swift and easy to handle.

Thank you, Willi

I am sorry!! I was mistaken. I did add Asa ans Samuel. They are now linked to John. I really thought John was the only one I added a memorial for. Hope you will forgive my oversight.

The way Find A Grave works you can add the parents to anyone you created a memorial for. I noticed that Martha Virginia "Jennie" McKinstry Lynch was add by Carl Lansden and she is in Union Cemetery in Hopkins county, Kentucky. If you contact him he will be able to add her parents for you. I can add any obit you may have for John and I can note who his children were for you on his memorial if you would like. Let me know please. I will do what I can.

death records & tombstones
Isn't it FUN when the tombstones and the death records don't match. I found some death records for Haskell county, ok over 10 years ago. trying to help people with the information with these death records..actually made someone mad at me because I was trying to help her with the records I have. I live in Oklahoma and the person I made mad lives in California..so problem. If someone wants to share information with me about any of my findagrave tombstone site I will be understanding and maybe give you that person if you are related.
You have a BLESSED day

Hi, Bob :) I have transferred her memorial to you. I'm sorry, I am not related and don't know anything about the family. Here's a link to her deathcertificate:

Would you like the Gay memorials transferred to you since they are family? I am glad you were able to locate them. This is why I transcribe cemeteries for FindAGrave. Take care-
