Brenda...I'm confused. The only "Baxter that I've added to Find A Grave is Chester C. Baxter #140410775. Perhaps it was just a photo that I added....I've done thousands of those....Richard

I found her, yes, Mary Jane would be my Gr Gr Grandmother. Her daughter Clara was my dads grandmother. Most of the records we have refer to her as Jane, I guess that's why my brain was not kicking in. The picture was given to me by my uncle, who got it from my grandmothers albums. Sorry it took me so long to figure that one out, my brain has been in a fog lately, too much to do right now and never enough time to do it. Email me at email@example.com if you want to discuss further, I would love to swap info.

Thanks for your comment. I hope you find his grave. Do you want to manage his memorial?
I have been trying to figure out whether James is buried in the Palisade, Nebraska cemetery with his first wife. Still looking but your obit does at least confirm he was married to Lillian. I have been indexing our cemetery and adding information to our records. There were several smaller cemeteries that were moved to the Palisade Cemetery and some of the older records are a little iffy.

According to 1/17/2011 obituary in the McCook Gazzette, his body was cremated: http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1695624.html
"There is no visitation, as cremation was chosen."
I grew up in Wauneta with Steven. Sad to hear he passed so young.

Neat!!! They were my grandma's cousins. I am still in contact with their children. They would love to hear from neighbors. We have a Facebook page dedicated to the Price family and have spent a lot of time exchanging stories.

Yes, but she is listed as 7 and in Wenona in 1880?
I don't think, the marriage license dated 1871 will have the parents name of the bride and groom. I will check next time I go to Ottawa. Do you know when Mary Rogers passed? Wonder if she went back to her parents because she was sick? Or, pregnant?
I believe the tombstone in St. Mary's has a birth year of 1873 for Alice Lawless Prendergast.
By the way, people from Streatorland area went to Kansas and Nebraska because the railroad wanted to sell land/farms. The railroad offered free or very low cost excursion fact-finding trips to people in the area. Grain was needed for the feed lots in Chicago and to feed the cattle on the train to Chicago.
Also, Alice and Patrick Joseph Prendergast had 8? children. They died in Calumet City, Illinois but were buried in Streator.
I will let you know if I find any more.

There is also a family in Wenona, with Mary Lawless, Alecis?. They are living with Mary's parents?, Andy? and Eliza Rogers. Also there is a marriage license between Thomas Lawless and Mary Rogers dated 1871 in La Salle county.
Although they are living in Wenona, Marshall Co. it was not unusual for them to travel to Ottawa to get married.
City of Wenona is in Marshall County, but 4 of the Wenona cemeteries are in La Salle County.
This is probably the same family. Census takers were paid for the number of people recorded. So, the census taker could have asked Thomas J. about his family, when in fact, the family could have been visiting with the grandparents in Wenona. Thereby the family recorded twice.

Did the family go to the Eagle church? Or, St. Mary's in Kangley?, or St. Mary's in Wenona? I might have gotten the information from baptismal records of the "Eagle church". Or, from the Prendergast family, they have extensive records of the Prendergast family and those who married into that family.

Unfortunately, I did not source out the information about her birth. But, census information, esp. at that time was just not that reliable. Many census takers did not know how to read or write, it was a political job in some areas. The census takers would hire someone to record the information, sometimes even a young school boy. I was talking to a lady, just this afternoon, who was researching two sisters. In some census' the birth order of the two sisters was even reversed.

Thank you for the photo of Robert's marker. I greatly appreciate it. Would you by chance happen to have a shot of the entire stone? Maybe one also showing what that white stake is to the right of his stone? Thanks again.
