Reed & Diven Stones
Eliz, Your photos of the family tombstones are greatly appreciated. Lysle Reed apparently had a very unhappy first marriage when he left Beaver Co., PA and went west.

Thanks again, Todd

Ilegible Richards stone
Elizabeth, I created a memorial (92601376) for the sunken and illegible stone in the Richards plot at Union Cemetery that is next to Emeline's headstone. You can tell there is an 8-letter first name (Thaddius??) and then maybe Son of A.P. (or D.& P.) Richards. I wish I would have torn back the grass a bit more. I posted the photo in case something in your family research points to a name.

More about Richards (Union Cem)
I saw that John Holle took some nice photos of the entire Richards plot in the old section. I think you will easily be able to find it from his photos, since the plot starts right near the path (which is basically a grassy and not very gravelly strip) and is only a couple of rows from the Olentangy River Road fence. The first upright stone in the row is for Sydner D. Richards, the son of George Richards and Mary Commons. Jacob (sunken marker) and Emeline (upright marker) Richards are also in the row and sort of legible. A sunken and smoothed over stone next to Emeline is completely illegible except maybe saying Richards. Several are unmarked, and then you get to the clearly readable ones for Mary and Mathias.

There are also larger Richards stones (Silas, Lavina, two Hirams, etc.) and many big and fancy Slyh graves that are easy to find in the section immediately south of the old office. In fact, the Slyh graves take up almost a whole row running from the south face of the old office to the next road.

RE: Phoebe Richards grave location
I did some more cemetery records research (copy of the burial record for the Richards plot) and took a couple more photos. Nothing to post on findagrave. Would you like them emailed to you with an explanation?

RE: Phoebe Richards grave location
I have seven pictures of the Richards family plot.
How about I put all seven on the Phoebe site and you can then tell me which ones to remove?

Phoebe Richards grave location
Today I located the Richards family plot. There are three non-legible markers in the plot. It is possible one belongs to Phoebe but there is no way to know for sure. I checked with the cemetery office and we could not determine an exact location. I have pictures of the family plot which could be posted on the Phoebe findagrave website. Other family members identifiable markers are: Mathias Richards, Mary Richards Lane & Syphter (sp?) Richards.
Please let me know what you would like to do.
John

RE: Phoebe Richards (Slyh)
Hi! There could be more Richards and Slyh graves at Union not yet documented on Find a Grave. The day I took photos, I was meandering around the very old section for fun after fulfilling a photo request and not "mowing the rows" in an organized way, so I could easily have missed some.

There is a cemetery map on this page: http://www.union-cemetery.com/cemetery_maps.html

Look near the bottom of the east cemetery map and you will see a black square marked "Old Office." It's a small gray stone building, and I parked next to it. The Richards graves I photographed were to the west of the old office (to the left on the map) and were very close to the black metal fence along Olentangy River Road, like within 10-20 feet of that fence. I can't exactly recall if they were in the same grassy section as the old office or if I crossed Road #1 or the narrow path to the south to get to them. Jacob's grave is fallen and partially sunken into the ground. If I make it over to Union this week, I will double check on whether the graves are across one of the paths/roads or not.

RE: Aaron Richards
You're welcome, and thanks for the background information.
Your uncle's stone was pretty dirty and moss-covered. We did the best to clean it up without running any risk of damage.
