CPT Wessendorff
Hey Jack, my name is MSG Roland Hall. I am with the 91st Division (currently) and I just received a request for info on CPT Wessendorff. A man named Tim Cumings is writing a book about the CPT and the capture of Monticelli. In a search for the CPT's grave, I found your name.

Would you be interested in sharing what you know of your dad's time in Italy? If so, please reply to my email address:

Old Castle

If you would like some company on a trip to Old Castle I'd love to go. I haven't been since I was about 10 years old which would have been 1974. My grandfather, father and I hiked in and found it and cleaned it up - quite an adventure at the time. I am a great grandson of William Holt Berryman and Patrick Henry Rowell and also live in Richmond.

RE: More info on Sally Honeycut Berryman
I don't have any documenation for where the name Hart came from. The headstone reads Honeycut, so that must be her middle name - not Hart. I queried for a Sally Hart Judkins and got hits, but none that jived with her birth and death dates. I will from here on out refer to her as Sally Honeycut Judkins. Thanks!

RE: Pattie, Lucy and May Sadler
Mr. Huber,

Thank you so much for the photos. Their father was John Edward Sadler. Their mother, Lucy Susannah Berryman, was the daughter of William Holt Berryman SR and Sally Hart Judkins. Lucy Susannah Berryman was my grandmother's grandmother. My grandmother was Hylah Berryman Sadler.

Is this cemetery located in an area known as Cobham?

I wonder where John Edward Sadler and Lucy Susannah Berryman are buried.

The transcription of the dates may be incorrect for May and Pattie Sadler. The dates on the page don't match the headstones.

William McNeal
Jack - William's page is now yours to manage. I am glad to have played a part in helping you to find his grave. I went to Section 12 that day because I knew that there were casualties of Iwo Jima buried there, and I wanted to memorialize Marines and sailors who may not have earned prestigious combat decorations, but nonetheless gave their lives to the country and the cause of freedom.

My maternal grandfather, Eugene C. Akre (1914 - 1995) served in the Marine Corps during World War II, seeing action at Okinawa, the last major battle of the war. Fortunately, my grandfather returned home to his family after the war.

Best of luck to you in your research.

RE: John L. Huber
Can you send me the entire thing? I think I'm going to give Penny a DAR membership for Christmas. I thought it would be nice to put this story in the file, to show why they moved from Lancaster to Surry. I think I have all the documentation to prove her lineage back to Michael Weidler.

You wouldn't happen to have any documentation going down that line do you?? Susan Weidler was John Lawrence's mother. So, her great-grandfather was a Rev War patriot. I really need marriage records if you happen to have them. I have John Lawrence & Mary Barbara Streit's marriage record. I don't have any farther past than them, other than Michael Weidler (the patriot) and his wife Magdalena Weibrecht. If you have anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

John L. Huber

I've been working on the family tree for a friend of mine, Penny Brockwell Baldwin. Her great-grandfather is John L. Huber. I got a page of a publication from you about John L. Huber's move from Philadelphia to Surry county, VA. What is the name of that publication?

Thanks a bunch,

Brian Bennett

Please feel free to contact me directly (let me see if I can do this so the spam cralwers won't get it...) at sbennett3 at triad dot rr dot com.

My Bennett's are not actually from there - we came from Maryland via Ohio. But I can trace the Burgesses there back as far as the brother of a Revolutionary War veteran killed in action. There were Burgesses in the area from the mid-1600s (Robert Burgess associated with Bacon's Rebellion), but I can't find anything to tie Robert's family to my wife's.

I'd appreciate any info you can provide. I didn't get into genealogy until almost all of them were gone (at least the ones I know or who have responded to emails).

I made the edit and transferred ownership. Any others you want?

My wife's great grandmother is buried there (Elo Burgess) and is related to lots of others.

Is the church active? When I took all the pictures it didn't look like anyone had been there in a few months - we visited in late March, 2008 I think and I remember there was a gas bill from early February, 2008 shoved in the door handle.

Hey Jack, I corrected Mr. Faisons entry & I have transferred the maintenance to you. I have not had a chance to look for the original photo of Shelton when he was a boy with his family. I work at the nuclear power plant shutdown--actually before the shutdown because I work in the department that processes in all the workers to do the maintenance on the unit. I have been working long hours so when I get home at night, I rarely do will be retired again soon and I will get it scanned and sent to you! I would love any photos you can share with me also!

RE: Union Church Cemetery
I am glad it helps you. My husbands family is out there and when I found out that the church does not have a record of who is buried there I just walked around and took info off the gravestones. There are many unmarked graves that we have no way of knowing who they are and that is a shame. Are you related to Toni Huber? She works at the Nuke Plant in Surry. She and her husband are such nice folks.
