RE: Pierce Gilbert
Mr. Gilbert was on a list of Civil War veterans buried there. I believe that I did request a photo of his gravestone. I would be glad to transfer him to your sister, if she sends a request through the Suggestions and Corrections button on his page.

Emily Mc
Union Cemetery - Hermantown
Hello Ruth! The Union Cemetery she is buried in is in Hermantown - 5005 Hermantown Road at Getchell Road. There is another larger cemetery before it - Bethany Cemetery. Just keep going down the road a short way. Hope you find it! If I recall correctly the headstone was on the right side on a hill as you're facing the maintenance building, look for the large family marker.

Adding On
Could you also add the photo to Laverne Johnson, Vera Johnson's husband. I just put in a request and then realized that both names were on the same stone. It is greatly appreciated.

It is nice to live in a place where you don't have to shovel snow to photograph gravestones! Your photograph of their stone is very good and your effort is most appreciated by our family!

Donald Dean Broughton
Thank you so much
Wanted to thank you for the tombstone picture and for putting it up on's page for him. That is exactly where I wanted it to be. Little tidbit that you might enjoy. The (my) family's grandparents lived in a little town in Nebraska's prairie where he was a Depot Agent, Grain Elevator Manager and finally, Postmaster. They raised 7 children, mainly in the upstairs of the Depot. The eldest daughter raised seven children, all four boys served in WWII with two of the boys and a daughter eventually living in Coos Bay OR. One of them is also buried at Williamette National along with the Donald King that you shot the picture of. Donald King is eldest son of the youngest son of the grandparents - kind of neat that we wind up with multiple boys in the same national cemetery.

Thanks again.

RE: Nancy Gilbert
If you want me to go search for Tufts...remind me about July...
Will be glad to do so..
there are not many graves in that particular cemetery...there are 3 cemeteries in Deer Creek area..
are there any Tufts or Gilberts sill in the area?
My daughter works for the sheriff dept..has access to databases..and her husband is a state trooper in that region..and stops and talks to all the farmers..LOL
So there are ways of finding info..

RE: Nancy Gilbert
Hello Ruth,
This is not a relative, but the cemetery which is very rural Deer Creek area is close to my daughter's and my husband's uncle.
The uncle has a daughter and other family members buried there , and we took photos of as many as I could that day, Gilbert was one..
Are you from MN?
I can certainly turn over the memorial to you if you like? and if you need other photos in the Wadena/Deer Creek area let me know...
We will be back to visit for a month or more July/Aug this coming summer...and I know most of these rural cemeteries...
I moved out of MN 15 years ago...and now live between Las Cruces, NM and EL Pa so , TX...
a whole new world doing graves few grass...all tumble weeds and plastic flowers...not the manicured ones of the north..
thanks for the note
Jean in La Mesa, NM
