Ernie Mickler has a headstone!
Hi Teresa,
I found your search for Ernie Mickler (my cousin)and the story of his cremation and spreading of the ashes, etc.

In the past few months,I have built and installed a headstone for Ernie between his mother (Edna Rae) and his father (William) at Sampson Cemetery, Florida.

I just recently installed the plaque on his headstone. I uploaded a picture of the plaque and the rear page of his cookbook on this website.

I'll be uploading pictures of the entire headstone after I visit the cemetery, again.

Lazurus Solomon
I have searched for this grave several times in the past few months and so far have had no success. I have driven out Crescent Rd, most recently last week (no leaves on trees), coming from Jeffersonville and turning L on Crescent Rd, and looking on the L side of the road about where the Solomon cemetery is marked on the map, but have not seen any graves. There are GPS co-ordinates given but they appear not to correlate with the map and certainly not with my Android GPS. I visited this grave a couple of decades ago and remember it being in woods just off the side of a dirt road, but cannot remember exactly how I got there. I wonder if you recall exactly how you found it, or if you could give me a name of whomever helped you to find it?

Thank you.

Lazarus Solomon
Dear Teresa,

Lazarus Solomon is my g-g-g grandfather and I am from the line of his daughter Dicey. I appreciate your research and actually found the grave a little over a year ago after many trips to that area. I have a few photos and was led to the location by the former mayor there. It is hard to put into words the emotions when climbing that bank and seeing where they are buried. We are having our Wall family reunion tomorrow, August 26, 2012 in Tazewell, Georgia at the Methodist Church and I am going to share this link with them. Dicey married Soloman Wall and they had a son named Torrence Wall. Torrence had a daughter named Cora Leona Wall who married John William Roberts, my grandfather. From my research I have learned that Lazarus Solomon served with General Nathaniel Greene, Rhodes Company, North Carolina. It is common knowledge that after the War for Independence, General Greene visited Lazarus Solomon in Fitzpatrick and/or Tazewell. Once again, thank you for your work in this area. I am 65 years old and I never saw any of my grandparents because they had my parents when they were older. For example, my mother was a Rush from Buena Vista, Georgia. Her father, Richmond Carroll Rush was born in 1850 and I was born in 1946. He would have been 96 when I was born. Blessings, U.D. Roberts - uhland@bellsouth.net

Zetta Decker
Hi, Teresa. I've transferred management of Zetta to you. She is no relation to me. I'm trying to make sure that my local cemeteries are all documented so that people like you can locate and connect their relatives.

If you need anything else, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Good luck with your searches.

More Info
Hello again Teresa: Just wanted to let you know that Iza Speer (My grandmother) is the Izetta E. Carpender Speer in your memorial. My father told me that is what his father called her. The E Stands for Eva. I have alot of information from the Speer family Bible such as the changing of the original spelling of the name Speer to Spear. And that Spearville KS is named after the side of the family that changed the spelling of the name. The earliest Speer family arrived in Virginia from Germany in the 1740s then split off and went to Ohio then to Kansas were my father was born in 1894 at Oberland Park KS. My father moved to Washington State in the 1930s during the Dust Bowl days and married my mother in 1944. My father Eddie William Speer is buried in Redmond Memorial Cemetery in Redmond WA.

Vane Speer
Family In Arizona
Hi Teresa: I am the nephew of Vane Speer AKA Reedy. I believe the spelling of Reedie maybe wrong but no big deal. I am the son of Eddie William & Alice Jeanne Spaudling Speer. My
father is the eldest son of William Clinton & Iza Carpender Speer. I met my father's youngest brother Roy Speer once at a family reunion. My father spoke of his sister Pansy often, who like Reedy passed away before I was born. My father's other siblings include his sister Zetta Speer Decker and his brothers Otis and Marvin Speer. I came across your information because I punched my name into a Google search which is as my family knows it Reedy Vane Meredith Speer. Kind of errie to see your name on a headstone. My email address is vanespeer@gmail.com

Have a great day

My pleasure. I noticed the memorial for Pansy no longer exists. If you want to enter a memorial for Pansy, you are more than welcome to use the picture from the Gilbert memorial, or I can take a separate picture.

Thank you very much for your trouble. Don't knock yourself out, just if you're in the neighborhood.

And welcome to FindaGrave! It's a blessing in disguise for many of us! After more than 40 years, through another photo volunteer, I found out my grandfather was never given a headstone in Indianapolis. NOW I'm down to the final touches in ordering one for him, even though I'm 1,000 miles away. Being the last of the family, I'm able to do what's right by him and credit all goes to FindaGrave and their volunteers, esp. those that go that extra mile.

Teresa,

You might want to check Find A Grave# 90077748 (William J. Gilbert) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Gilbert&GSfn=William&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=18&GScnty=912&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=90077748&df=all& Notice the dates and names on the stone.

I know the Lockmans and the Gilberts are connected here in Dodge City. Let me know how you want the pictures handled.

Also, there is a Leo Lockman and a Leonard Lockman at Maple Grove. If you want pictures there, let me know which one or what dates.

Thanks!

Tim
