My son is buried there and I visit twice a year. I found all of the requests yesterday morning while I was waiting for it to warm up. I was really happy when I found Sarah, at least I can help others while I am visiting my son's grave. It's a beautiful cemetery.

Thank you Liz for taking time to create all of the memorials on this site. My cousin is Debra Elizabeth Shields, Memorial# 122920077. Debra was a happy little girl, so full of life. RE: Primrose
Liz,

Yes, I would very much like to know what year the Primrose family was split up. I'm amazed you have an article on this. Where on earth did you find it?

Now that I look at the census records again, I think Violet would have been in her early to mid twenties when she was admitted to the asylum, a typical age for mental illness to manifest itself. That too must have been a pretty heart-wrenching decision for a family that adopted her as their own. It's interesting too that her adoptive family had moved to Colorado by 1930.

I hope we can fill out the history of the family a bit more.

Cheers,
Tom H.

RE: Primrose
Liz,

I was quite elated to come across the memorial you created for Harry A. Primrose! It was such a surprise and contains a lot of interesting information about him. I only wish I had found it sooner. My godmother, Geraldine Primrose Dachs, was Harry's granddaughter. She passed away earlier this year at age 87. Her father was Dale Wadsworth. She told me a little bit of the family history and I have taken an interest in seeing what I can further uncover.

I am trying to link two more of Harry Primrose's children to his memorial: Mary Portman and Dale Wadsworth, both of Iowa. I did contact the person who created their memorials to let them know of the connection.

I've learned that Violet Primrose was taken in as an "indentured servant girl" by a banker, Clarence Peter Therkelsen, and his wife Mernie, in Iowa. That's from the 1910 federal census. I believe they later formally adopted her as their own. Gerry once told me that Violet was eventually committed to an asylum, possibly while in her thirties. That would make it problematic learning much more about her, given the privacy laws and such.

It's interesting to note that Weldon was briefly married to a woman named Ruth in the 1930s but they divorced. He lived in Nebraska for a time and California too. Doesn't sound like he ever remarried or had any children. Maybe he preferred the vagabond life!

Haven't been able to find anything on Jay Roland, Harry's third son. He remains a mystery at present.

I would love to know what happened to Susan DeWitt, Harry's wife. I wish now I had asked Gerry about this but it's possible she didn't know either. I don't recall Gerry ever mentioning that her father, Dale, ever had any contact with his mother once the family was broken up. I'm not even sure what year that event occurred, but since Weldon was born in 1906 and Violet had been taken in by 1910, that narrows it down some.

If I can find any more out about the family, I will certainly pass this along to you.

Cheers,
Tom H.

Could you also transfer Arthur Wilburn House to me? I realized there are 2 memorials for him, the other being in Lane Memorial Gardens , but your memorial is the correct one. I will combine the two so he only has one. Thanks, Diann House #48066815.

Hi Liz,

Thanks

Oh, yes that would be great.
These are my maternal grandpa's families I'm chasing around the country. And adding into his tree too, some I have & give more information for Find A Grave, so I am trying to do that as well.

Again, thanks Liz.

Melissa
