Kahn Israel & Rachael Britton Road
Hi Elana,
A while back you were kind enough to take pictures of my Great Grand Parents Graves in the Britton Road Cemetery in Rochester. I can not thank you enough for that!!!! I am going to be passing through Rochester in August and plan on paying my respects to my Great Grand Parents. I wanted to know if you still have the info on exactly where they are buried in the cemetery (Section, Row, Grave #)? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again,
Sabrina (Kahn) Uchetel

GARY PARKS
PARKS, HUGH DIED 1862
Would you have any idea how close Hugh Parks is buried to the Parks with no name who died in 1865??? I noticed the numbers used to record the graves are very close together. I am looking for a Hugh Parks who we show died in August 1862, and his wife Nancy died in July 1865. We may be off with the months.

Thanks

Gary Parks

Cummings family
Hi Elana, your name is on a photo of the cemetery gates of Hope something in Rochester, NY one of the people you list is Allen J Cummings...no birth date.
died 1882?
Anyway, I am looking for the parents of my Allen Cummings...there are only about 2 or 3 Allen Cummings in the NY/PA area. I have my GGGgrandfather but no parents for him or siblings. Any cummings born in the late 1700's or just around 1800 could be related to him...so I saw that you had Amos...born 1797? in Mass.. but then Allen in Rochester NY.
So do you know anything else about that Allen? Or my Allen for that matter...see my profile, or search for Allen Cummings in the Stull cemetery in Eldred, McKean Co. PA
Thank you, Lindy J. Cummings
Ithaca, NY

in reference to the message you left another contributor:

RE: Henry Francis Poor # 35694315
The picture was taken at Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA (where the rest of his family is buried), but I believe he's buried in Hawaii. I just looked, and there's a duplicate record for him in O'ahu Cemetery. Unfortunately I can't read the stone much better than you would be able to because it's so worn away. If I were to guess I would say it says:

"Died Honolulu, HI
Sep. 16, 1859 Aged 27"

Have you tried using onion paper to read the stone? you can take a sheet of onion paper (tracing paper works, but it might be too thick to get the job done good), but you place a sheet of onion paper over the marking on the stone, then use a crayon OR Chalk & rub it Lightly across the paper until you start to see words darken in the color you are creating, Then you can ad more pressure to the areas where there appears to be more engravings... This is an excellent way to trace carvings of graves that are too worn to read... Hope this helps...

Hope cemetery in Rochester, Monroe, N.Y. Leona E. Warren Died Sept. 1892. Her family should also be there, named Crawford. Thank you, Donna e-mail is: dantiques101@aol.com

Elana, there is an article on Yahoo.com with the title of the article as in the subject. It has pictures so I thought you might like to see it for your information. I can send the story to you by e-mail (minus the pictures) if you would like but I do not have your e-mail address. Mine is shelbygrant4@yahoo.com

Let me know if you want the story sent by e-mail. It is too long to put on public message.

Parents
There are 5 or 6 people buried near your parents that we keep checking to see if the marker is there. When I go I place a small stone on your parents grave for me and one for you. I hope that is not against tradition for me to add one from you. I know that if you could you would be there as often as possible so that is why I place a stone there for you. By the way, the graves and the cemetery are kept clean and beautiful. There are many graves with white stone that shine in the sun.

Thank you SO much for both the photo and adding my uncle's obit. They were both very remarkable people. It's a very beautiful cemetery and that particular spot by the lake is really special. You are lucky to live close by.
