RE: Thank you again
Forget google. Use Fultonhistory.com [aka fulton postcards]. It's a totally free site, has 28 million old newspaper pages online. It has the millbrook round table, pine plains register, harlem valley times, pawling chronicle through 1980 or so, Poughkeepsie papers through the early 1940's, Putnam county courier through the 70's. It's also got a bunch of Westchester papers, although not the white plains papers. To see what papers are on the site, go to fultonhistory.com, click on enter, when the search page comes up, click on "index" in the upper right, and start paging through the titles. There's also a link to download the index. If you're going to do a Boolean search (see below), you MUST spell the newspaper title EXACTLY as it is spelled in on the index, or the search won't work.

Be advised that these are copied from 3rd generation microfilms, so sometimes the search engine has problems finding things. Some years, especially the early-mid 20's are totally missing.

I always use the Boolean search and search only the newspapers I'm interested in. To use the Boolean for the above newspapers, you have to set the search engine to Boolean and begin the search EXACTLY as typed below, including the mis-spelling. You can capitalize or not, case doesn't matter, but the spelling does. You can only search one specific paper at time.

Millbrook ny round table and
pine plaines ny register herald and
amenia ny harlem valley times and
amenia ny times and
carmel ny Putnam country courier
pawling ny Patterson news chronicale
Poughkeepsie ny daily eagle

Yes, I know the plains in pine plains is mis-spelled, the county in Putnam county courier is misspelled and the chronicle in pawling news chronicle is mis-spelled. The guy who runs the site is a genealogical angel, but a horrible speller. If you don't misspell them, the computer doesn't know what you're looking for.

The amenia times is before 1912, the harlem valley times is after 1912.

Anyway, after the and in the above command, add what you're looking for:

Millbrook ny round table and Anthony wing and died and 1944.

If you want to make sure you get all the Anthony wings, including if the name includes the middle intial, use anthony w/1 wing. That would bring up anything where Anthony is within 1 word or wing, like Anthony Charles wing, Anthony George wing, Anthony f wing, etc.

If you can't find what you're looking for, change the search terms. If you know someone's wife's maiden name (say smith), search

millbrook ny round table and wing and Anthony and smith and died and 1952

keep adding and deleting search terms, and you can normally find what you want.

It takes practice. I've been using fulton for years, and am very good at searching. It takes practice, since the computer can't always read what's on the page properly. Give it a try, but be forewarned, it's very addictive.

The site also has "exact phrase", "all the words", "any of the words" and other searches. I just find the Boolean to be the most useful, because if you use it, you can pick which paper you want to search. I really don't much care about people who live in Buffalo. I'm interested in the people who live around Dutchess.

Another wing
I found another Wing child, not on the site yet. Charles Anthony "Tony" Wing Jr, born and died 1n 1944. Son of Charles Sr & Mary. He's got a name stone, along with a main Wing monument, but I didn't find any name stones for his parents there. It's possible they don't have there name on any stones. I'm seriously doubting they buried him in one place and themselves in another plot. But I've still got a couple hundred pictures to go through, so I may find them yet.

Buried in the same plot with baby Tony is Christopher John Wing, died 2004, son of Patrick and Linda. There don't appear to be any other name stones in the plot, or at least if there are, I somehow missed them

Will transfer baby Tony to you

More Wings, Millbrook
I'm working on St Joseph's cemetery. Added pictures for JOhn Wing, d. 1954, Marion Smith Wing, died 1970, Richard, d. 1958. Added obit for Richard.

Also added Thomas J, son of Marion & John. He's only got a flat military stone, but is buried with his mother. Will transfer Thomas to you

I'm sure I've got more wing pictures. I'll let you know as I add them

RE: Transfer request
I remember researching Jackson Wing. I can't believe you actually met someone born in 1858. Don't you wish you could meet him now and ask him what his life was like?

RE: Transfer request
Our families just intertwined, if ever so distantly and by marriage. My second cousin is a relative of Irving's 1st wife Valeary Wheeler. Paul lives in New Mexico, and was the reason I went out looking for Valeary's stone to begin with.

It looks like Irving's son Clayton is in twice, once by me and once by you. Do you want me to delete mine? I found out the hard way that even if I transfer him to you, you can't delete him, only the person who created the memorial can. You've got him in Union cemetery, Hyde Park, I've got him in Ancram Union. His name is on his mother's stone there, with a birth, but no death date. If I remember correctly, Clayton married very late in life, and may well not be buried with his mother. Let me know if I should delete the one in Ancram.

Meanwhile, I'll transfer Irving over to you. Let me know about Clayton

Are you related to the million Wings in Wingdale?

RE: transfer ownership
Transferred the one's I did in this family group. Let me know if you want anyone else. I love to transfer memorials to family members. As long as I'm not related, they're yours.

If there's a bunch, just send me a list of their names & numbers and I'll move them all to you

RE: Link to Parents
FYI, I was up at St Joseph's Millbrook yesterday and got a couple Wing gravestones. I just realized you're the one who entered their memorials. I posted a couple of them already. I only got about 1/4 - 1/5 of the cemetery done, so will be going up again and will probably find more Wing stones
