Kathleen Hill
RE: Ezell's and Baker's
Thank you for contacting me. One of the main reasons I create Find A Grave Memorials is in the hope of connecting with distant cousins.

1st - Yes you may use any of my Ezell photos in your Family Tree. But PLEASE state that you did get them from me (I do have the old originals) at my email address:
Kathleen Hill at
so that other "cousins" might contact me in the future.

2nd - I read in your profile that you are "new" to formal research. I would like to point out to you that my branch of the family has always identified Jeremiah Ezell's son as GREGOR McGREGOR EZELL - not GEORGE as does.
If you have an account you can see a copy of the actual handwritten Will of GREGOR M G Ezell at

You will see that it states, "I Gregor M G Ezell of Davidson County ...."
If you email me I can cite you other Sources that spelled his first name Gregor.
You can also see that a Witness to his Will was his brother-in-law William D (Dudley) Baker.

I has a story about our James Baker, Sr. and Anna Sanders that you might not have. It was written by one of their daughters in the 1890's. I will email it to you.

I would like to discuss your Mariana Ezell and Leander Bigley and hope we can share info.
Isn't it bizzare that Mariana's mother Rosanna later became her mother-in-law!

I would wish that the photo was a better one - I want to have it fixed, but have not done so yet. In any case, you can certainly use it on your family tree - but it is already on my tree and you can link to it there without asking any permission

RE: So sorry to read of your loss
Thanks so much for your prayers. I finally had to return home after 9 weeks in California. I doubt my daughter will ever be able to go back to work.

RE: Rosa Commander
Your welcome on the transfer and yes Valaree is still living and is still in her house. Of course Uncle Bill passed away May of 2011, which was the last time I saw Aunt Valaree, who looked so small and fragile at the time.

I wish you luck in searching for family.

Rosa Commander
I am happy to transfer her memorial to you. My connection to her is through her son Boyd Commander. He was the father of my aunt Valaree who married my mothers only brother. Do you have a lot of information on the Commander family? I have not been able to find out anything about Rosa's husband, William Joseph 'Joe' Commander, or confirm her parents names. I have her mother's name as Penny Sawyer but am not certain it is correct.

RE: Ura Christine Ward Wright
Thank you for your kind words. I "met" Lora Arms many years ago when I first started researching our Mordecai line. She descends from Isaac R. Mordecai, Tennesssee Ann's father...but you probably know that already. Lora shared much of her research with me, so I am always happy to help others when I can. I also "met" Jennifer, who has also shared much of her research and we have "talked" about family a lot.
I believe you have hit upon the reason genealogy is so important to us, and yes, the Bible lists genealogies of many peoples. It also lets us know who has paved the way for us to become the person we are today. I believe Find A Grave has helped tremendously.....
Thanks again for your note and I wish you much success in locating the burial place of Gideon's parents.

You are so very welcome. I am connectead to the Wright family buried in Greenview via James Gideon's first wife, Tennessee Ann Mordecai. We don't know her burial place, but suspect it is in Arkansas somewhere. I have enjoyed finding his second family's memorials and when I add a flower, I know that I have "seen" that grave. I, like you, am also homebound and do all my research online now. It's still fun though.....
Thanks for writing.

Sure. My wife took the picture in his garage in Mesquite.

His daughter is also named Pat. She is difficult to reach these days. I'm in the process of getting in contact with her. When I do I will pass your contact information to her, if you email me on how she could reach you.
