RE: Just a Word
Oh yes, I know exactly who you are talking about. I won't mention any names but K B G is her intials. She was upset because a member posted a flower using a scaned photo and got Find A Grave to remove it. The thing is it was for a veteran, sad. She is a piece of work, regards.

Ellis Yancey was my great grandfather. Minnie was an older sister to my grand daddy Thomas Columbus. They lived over in the Saxon area. So that wuld make Richard and I cousins. I'll check out the tree...Thanks

RE: Just a word
I appreciate the transfers of Gosnell memorials. I'm sorry to hear you're "frustrated" with FindAGrave. Why the change? I was recently told by Richard that he was told that had bought out FindAGrave, which surprises me from reading FindAGrave's creator's statement of intent, he said it was to remain a free site staffed by volunteers. Do you know if this is true? I had noticed that a few months or so ago, when I did searches on Ancestry, 2 listings for FindAGrave started turning up instead of one, they usually looked identical. I wondered why. This might explain why.

I don't know, Jeni. But Findagrave is removing what I posted to My Bio section and warned me not to post anything else. I have had my messages removed from my message section and obits removed. So I guess Big Brother has taken over. I thought freedom of speech was protected, but I guess not, who knows, I just know I don't have to be part of this, regards.

RE: Just a memo...
Sorry you were having trouble. People here are touchy about alot of things, but especially when it cames to photos. But I find that if you ask first, they are usually agreeable to your request.

Now back to your cousin Richard... is he related to Robinson/Roberson? Just wondering if he is the same Richard Gosnell my mom used to speak of.

Hello again Jeri. I am sorry for not answering you before. I have been so frustrated with Find A Grave that I have decided to transfer my memorials to a friend and stop. You asked me once before to transfer some of My Gosnel memorials in Motlow Creek Baptist Church to you, do you still want them, let me know, regards.

I see in your bio that you are adding memorials for a cousin Richard Gosnell. I've heard my mama talk about a Richard. Is he related to Robinson/Roberson? I have Gosnell in my Robinson line. Minnie Robinson married a William Gosnell. Any relation?

Not true. I do not care for the credit. Just remove the photo. I will not be using it in any capacity.

RE: Reba Burrell Ray
Please just remove the photo.

While I understand and can appreciate the WHY you did it, the FAQ's for the site prohibit taking a photo off this or any other site without permission and re-uploading it as your own, which is what you did - as you can see the photo is now attributed to you. You may wish to familiarize yourself with the FAQ's on photos and specifically this subject:

The proper way to do it is to ask permission first, then if it's granted you can repair the photos and email them to the original contributor. Then they can upload the photos here themselves if they choose, which is what JS did for me on several photos for my mother's memorial a few years ago, without looking for credit for doing so.

Also, I don't know where in the world you think I "disapprove of anyone who adds a memorial to persons whose families did not see fit to buy a monument for their gravesite" - that's completely absurd! I disapprove of BURIAL UNKNOWNS, not UNMARKED GRAVES. Not sure you understand the difference? An Unmarked Grave is still a grave and they belong on the site as part of that cemetery's documentation with records of death certificates and obituaries.

A Burial Unknown is exactly that, a person listed on the site whose burial location is not known. THAT is what I describe on my contributor profile. They do NOT belong permanently on this site:

Yes, I am well aware cremations can be added to the site. They are not Burial Unknowns.

You are welcome to have your pet peeve about church photos being on the site - it's obvious several thousand other photo contributors would disagree. They are definitely not prohibited by Find A Grave, and they are actually encouraged for submission because every photo that is submitted for a cemetery page has to be approved and added by an Administrator.

Thank you in advance for removing the photo.

Please remove the family photo you added to this memorial:

I had already added the photo so I'm not sure why you downloaded it and uploaded it again to the memorial. It only needs to be on there once.

Thanks, Karyn

RE: Waitsel Ramsey
Hi Jeni. The death certificate for Waitsel Ramsey is correct. The preview image of the headstone is too small to tell, but if you click on it a few times, the system will show the original photo, which clearly shows 1937. Glad you spotted the error. There's a lot of those on Find-A-Grave.

RE: Wheeler Gosnell Cemetery
I don't know. I have run into that two or three times. I try the name of the cemetery, and then try three or four names out of the burials and if I get nothing back I enter the cemetery. If I get time some time I will try and move the photo's to the other cemetery and delete mine, or I can just delete mine now. Which ever. I am going to get off of find a grave, as far as adding or editing, soon. It has gotten to be a pain.
I have transfer memorial to people and then they move it to the wrong cemetery. Madison County Cemeteries are called by different names by different families. One family member wants one name or date and another sends in another. It is just to much to keep up with. Like I said a pain. I am wondering if the other cemetery name was changed later, because it sure was not there when I added the cemetery; or find a grave had a glitch that day. Lumptown is seven miles from Hot Springs.

I have removed the wives of Portman Gosnell and his children I listed as requested. This is the second time this has happened. Last year a gentlemen of the Gosnell line sent me a list of the wife and children, that said just the opposite of what you stated, so, I removed the children and wife and posted the ones he said were Portman's wife and children. My wife and I are both of the Gosnell line and I want to get it straight, but come on, regards.

Sometimes people may be deceased who made the memorials or just stopped doing Find A Grave. You can use Help with Find A Grave to get those transferred but I never had any luck with getting them to help. Reading the rules and all about help with find a Grave helps sometimes on how to do thing. Maybe that will get better since is taking over I heard. God Bless

I don't know what to tell you. Many people refuse to add or change things or transfer even when the rules tell them to transfer close family. If you read "Help with find a grave" it might help you. Its to the right on Find A Grave where it lists your log in. Parents, grandparents g grandparents gg grandparents, siblings but cousins are not on the list that have to be transferred. I asked for a gg grandparent but they refused to transfer so it happens to all of us. Good luck

Go to edit on the right side at the top of his memorial you created and follow the instructions I gave you on the last email. If all else fails delete the Memorial and put one on the correct cemetery.

RE: James William
Thank you, I am understanding now. There is a way to move a Memorial but I have to refresh my memory before telling you. LOL Senior citizen thing!! Go to Edit on his Memorial where he is the only one on Meadow Fork. click then .. click on •Edit my Virtual Cemetery settings for this memorial check the other listing of Meadow Fork Cemetery and I believe it will move to the other cemetery. Let me know if this works. Nan

RE: James William
You added Meadow Fork as a duplicate and added a Lindsey that is already added in the original cemetery Meadow Fork Cemetery. The duplicated one needs deleted. I will add the parents as a link on the correct cemetery.. I am confused. On my Memorial the parents are linked so add that his father is buried without a tombstone on the one you made of his father . James William Doggett has a tombstone.

RE: Norton Holbrook
Hi Jeni,

The only Holbrook memorials we have made are Blanche Magdeline Cole Holbrook, Cornelius Holbrook, and Samuel Larkin Holbrook. I don't have one for Norton Holbrook. If you are related to the Holbrooks, I would be glad to transfer the three memorials that we have made to you. We made those memorials when we were researching some family members on Ancestry. The Holbrooks are not related to our family. Let me know if you would like to have the memorials.
