RE: Cudds, Lawsons, many NC & SC names
Jeni, I am afraid I do not know much about the Cudds. They are my husbands family and he died in 1987 and most of his family that could have helped me were already gone. I have tried to build this on my own. I know facts from census, cemetery records, and I visited some of the older members of the family when I first started searching. They lived around in Union County, SC. I know that my husbands grandmother was Nancy Fannie Cudd who married Edward Lawson. I know where they are both buried. Fannie was from the first marriage of Johnathan Lake Cudd and Amanda Burgess. He married a second time. I have never found out what happened to Amanda, where she is buried or anything. In later years he lived near Whitmire and several of her family wound up here. He was the son of William and Nancy Bailey and William was the son of Carter C and Martha Palmer. Are any of these your Cudds?

Cudds, Lawsons, many NC & SC names
Jeni, I want to commend you for all that you are doing for others through Find a Grave. Thank you.
You are making it possible for people like me who because of age and health can no longer visit the cemeteries. Now I can go to Find A Grave. I have been on my genealogy journey since the 80's and now have a lot of my info on Ancestry and Family Tree Maker. I am trying hard to get as much as I can on Ancestry for my descendants and others to know their heritage. I hope you won't mind my copying your photos for my family files. May God bless you in all you do to help others.

Just a question
Hello again Jeni. Have you heard from Kelly Jane O lately. I have tried to send several messages and no answer. She helped me a lot with Findagrave and I was just concerned she might be sick. My wife has had the flu for 10 days, thank God she is getting better, thanks and regards.

I read all the info you sent on this family. I just got started working on this line and don't yet know much about them, but I will keep you informed on what I find out. It was really interesting that we were working on the family line at the same time. Appreciate all the time you put in on this family and please keep me up to date on any other info you find, regards.

Because death certificates can contain a multitude of erroneous information and I would prefer that verified information be presented as a bio or other edit. Additionally, they look tacky and I don't think the cause of death being plastered across a memorial is appropriate.

Please do not post death certificates on memorials I have created.

RE: Raymond and Ralph Cummings
I fixed two for Ralph...Oakwood and Sunset. One for Raymond in Oakwood. For some reason the one for Ralph in Sunset was deleted but I readded it and went and took another photo. I removed the links from both memorials in Oakwood. But the one for Raymond in Sunset is not linked. I didn't create that one.

Tweaked the bios on three of the memorials. Check and see if they are ok. The 2 at Oakwood are now marked as cenotaphs.

Julia Stiles Hibberts.
Jane Hibberts Beasley's parents were Julia Stiles and John Hibberts. Reuben & Janes's son, William J Beasley died in Knoxville TN. He is buried in Bethel Confederate Cemetery located on the grounds of the Mabry-Hazen House. He has a memorial, but I don't know how to link it to this one.

Oh yes, I know exactly who you are talking about. I won't mention any names but K B G is her intials. She was upset because a member posted a flower using a scaned photo and got Find A Grave to remove it. The thing is it was for a veteran, sad. She is a piece of work, regards.

You sent the following:

RE: Just a word
I appreciate the transfers of Gosnell memorials. I'm sorry to hear you're "frustrated" with FindAGrave. Why the change? I was recently told by Richard that he was told that had bought out FindAGrave, which surprises me from reading FindAGrave's creator's statement of intent, he said it was to remain a free site staffed by volunteers. Do you know if this is true? I had noticed that a few months or so ago, when I did searches on Ancestry, 2 listings for FindAGrave started turning up instead of one, they usually looked identical. I wondered why. This might explain why.

I don't know, Jeni. But Findagrave is removing what I posted to My Bio section and warned me not to post anything else. I have had my messages removed from my message section and obits removed. So I guess Big Brother has taken over. I thought freedom of speech was protected, but I guess not, who knows, I just know I don't have to be part of this, regards.

RE: Just a memo...
Sorry you were having trouble. People here are touchy about alot of things, but especially when it cames to photos. But I find that if you ask first, they are usually agreeable to your request.

Now back to your cousin Richard... is he related to Robinson/Roberson? Just wondering if he is the same Richard Gosnell my mom used to speak of.

Hello again Jeri. I am sorry for not answering you before. I have been so frustrated with Find A Grave that I have decided to transfer my memorials to a friend and stop. You asked me once before to transfer some of My Gosnel memorials in Motlow Creek Baptist Church to you, do you still want them, let me know, regards.

I see in your bio that you are adding memorials for a cousin Richard Gosnell. I've heard my mama talk about a Richard. Is he related to Robinson/Roberson? I have Gosnell in my Robinson line. Minnie Robinson married a William Gosnell. Any relation?

RE: Reba Burrell Ray
Please just remove the photo.

While I understand and can appreciate the WHY you did it, the FAQ's for the site prohibit taking a photo off this or any other site without permission and re-uploading it as your own, which is what you did - as you can see the photo is now attributed to you. You may wish to familiarize yourself with the FAQ's on photos and specifically this subject:

The proper way to do it is to ask permission first, then if it's granted you can repair the photos and email them to the original contributor. Then they can upload the photos here themselves if they choose, which is what JS did for me on several photos for my mother's memorial a few years ago, without looking for credit for doing so.

Also, I don't know where in the world you think I "disapprove of anyone who adds a memorial to persons whose families did not see fit to buy a monument for their gravesite" - that's completely absurd! I disapprove of BURIAL UNKNOWNS, not UNMARKED GRAVES. Not sure you understand the difference? An Unmarked Grave is still a grave and they belong on the site as part of that cemetery's documentation with records of death certificates and obituaries.

A Burial Unknown is exactly that, a person listed on the site whose burial location is not known. THAT is what I describe on my contributor profile. They do NOT belong permanently on this site:

Yes, I am well aware cremations can be added to the site. They are not Burial Unknowns.

You are welcome to have your pet peeve about church photos being on the site - it's obvious several thousand other photo contributors would disagree. They are definitely not prohibited by Find A Grave, and they are actually encouraged for submission because every photo that is submitted for a cemetery page has to be approved and added by an Administrator.

Thank you in advance for removing the photo.

Please remove the family photo you added to this memorial:

I had already added the photo so I'm not sure why you downloaded it and uploaded it again to the memorial. It only needs to be on there once.

Thanks, Karyn

RE: Waitsel Ramsey
Hi Jeni. The death certificate for Waitsel Ramsey is correct. The preview image of the headstone is too small to tell, but if you click on it a few times, the system will show the original photo, which clearly shows 1937. Glad you spotted the error. There's a lot of those on Find-A-Grave.
