Hi, I added Benjamin to the list and corrected the two misspellings. I was told that was the name of the cemetery. I was also told that it was in the Young community by someone who lives in the area. I changed it to Lamar County but Yawn is not an option to add. I will add the alternate name in the description. Thanks

I transferred some of the Savage's to You . Let Me know if there is more that You would like to have. You have added photo's and have info that I do not. I can not even keep up with My own family. I will go back the next pretty day and try to find those markers. I know they are there since I added them. Oh , and I only live abt a mile from there.

I looked today for the 2 requests You made. I was saddened to see the Cemetery in such bad shape. So Many tombstones are off their bases andd on the ground. I wondered if You are related to the Savages's here ? Thank You for photo's of J. Frank and Silla McSwain Savage. I saw today that there 2 small trees growing next to the tombstone. If You have anymore photo's to add. I will remove cemetery photo's and my Tombstone photo's if necessary. Thanks again. I will look again for the Savage graves. Many are messed up or grown over.

RE: Henry Edgar Slade #90407541
I am Mark Benjamin Freeman, grandson of Dewey Benjamin Slade, son of Versi Laverne "Sis" Slade Freeman. Henry Edgar Slade was my great-uncle. I would like to thank you for all your efforts in memorializing my extended family.

I have in my possession the original 48 star American flag that was presented upon Uncle Henry's death. It is in fine condition.

I inherited my Grandpa Dewey's old fiddles and some of his woodworking tools. He and his brother Theron "Squinch" Slade were both fiddlers.

Thanks again and if I can be of any assistance contact me at

Appreciate the information & flag you posted to this WW I soldier's memorial! I added the photo you cited onto his memorial, giving credit to the "World War I Gold Star Database" and then added said database to my computer "favorites".

Retired military myself... will be using the new research technique you have so aptly demonstrated!
