Bob, I noticed that you took the photo of what I think is my 2nd great grandfather's grave marker. However, his death certificate states he died 8 March 1901, not 8 March 1801 which is listed on the memorial. I understand that you are not the owner of the memorial, but since you took the photo, I thought you might have an opinion of what the year reads. When I look at the photo I see 1901 and not 1801. What do you think? Also, I would like to have permission to use the photo in the memorial I created for my 2nd great grandfather (#92120136). Thank you.

Unfortunately, Many stones in the section have been vandalized. The stone lied where he is buried and is somewhat covered. I would be more than happy to return and uncover the bottom for the transcription and another photo if you like

James J Hanlon
You have a photo of a grave for James J Hanlon. Do you have any other information in the man. Do you know how to find records on who was burried.

My Mother is a Gallagher from Yonkers, NY, he mother was Caroline Veronica Hanlon. The oldest solid record I have is a 1915 census with James J Hanlon, his wife and children living in Yonkers, NY.

My mother thinks Caroling was born further North perhaps Dobbs Ferry or Sleepy Hollow which are not far from Ossining.

The difficult part is that on different census James J Hanlon has a different birth year. He put his age as 50 several different years. Based on my Grandmother's age 1883 makes the most sense.

IF this is the correct James J Hanlon I might assume that the others on the grave marker are his family and I would have some good leads to follow.

RE: Marion Tompkins and Mary Tompkins
Thanks, Bob!

I knew it had to be an auto accident or something. I find it odd, however, that his daughter died before her first birthday in the same year. Do you know the date of that paper? There's no dateline on the page. Thanks for the help!

Marion Tompkins and Mary Tompkins

My mother was Marion Tompkins's niece. Her name was June Schnaudigel, and her mother's maiden name was Jesse Lepeer. Ruth Tompkins, nee Lepeer, was her aunt and also Marion Tompkins's wife. I was wondering if you had any information about how Marion and Mary died. Because Marion was only 31, it seems to me it would have had to have been something like a car wreck for them to both have died at the same time. Please let me know if you know anything. Thank you in advance.

Your welcome. I was happy to go for the walk. I noticed that so many graves are new and not all pictures are posted from that cemetery. I live near by and enjoyed my digital camera although day 1 the camera died soon after getting there.
