Eric, thank you for posting a better photo of the headstone. With your permission I would like to use it in a booklet that I am preparing for my two brothers and 2 cousins about the Smith Family. I have not been to the cemetery since the 1990's and wonder when you took this photo. I have tried to find out who is in charge of the cemetery, but have only found the pastor of the Methodist who was checking for some additional information about records several years ago. I would like to find someone to repair or perhaps replace the monument at some point. Again thanks for the photo.

When you are at New Prospect Cemetery, if you will continue to check at the Grave for a permanant marker and e-mail me if you ever see that one has been placed and snap a picture.I will appreciate it very much. Was the Ginter headstone that you found in Union Grove Cem hard to locate?
I live in Macon,GA and don't know when I will ever be in that area but sure wanted to be able to find this grave.
When you enter the cemetery is it right or left, back or front, close to the church building?
Just wanted to ask while it was still fresh in your mind.

Yes you are right. I have deleted my memorial. I got this from the 1965 cemetery survey book for Cherokee County Al Cemeteries. It was wrong in there. She is the only Steele in the cemetery so someone got confused when writing it down. Thanks! PattiAdded by Patti Lee on Mar 17, 2013 10:57 PM | |

I couldn't believe when I saw that you had found Mattie Ginter's marker. I am so greatful.
Have been trying to find it for 3yrs. Wasn't even sure that it was marked and I didn't know that her husband was buried beside her.
They are great-grandparents. His name was Oliver Perry Ginter.
I would love it if you would let me manage his memorial. I'm not sure how to go about it.
