RE: Alexander Peru # 12234240
Alexander's death record gives his father's name as Josette. That's as far back as I can go. He emigrated from Canada around 1822. I have never seen any connection to the NY family but that doesn't mean there isn't any. Alexander did have a daughter named Martha May b 1859 but I have that she married Ellison Dunn. I can trace Ellison Dunn but never find Martha so I assume she died. Let me know if I can answer any more questions. Jayne

RE: Cairo Cemetery Fairfax MN
I'm guessing he was born in NY and married to Amy from the 1895 MN census. The Cairo cemetery is the Methodist cemetery - from what I can tell, it wasn't a city cemetery. There are two larger cemeteries very close to the city, a Catholic, St Andrew and a Lutheran (split on FindAGrave in two) St John and St John's. Both churchs are still going. Do you know by chance what religion Wm might have been? I checked the 'neighbors on the census' and the Bregel family was Catholic. A search of the area found just one close Clark, Jane, in McLeod county, born 1821 but her stone said she was married to a Thomas Clark. Feel free to use my email address if you'd like also. Oh, there are many, many small church cemeteries in the area around Fairfax.

Is the map on the Find A Grave web site accurate for this cemetery accurate? I would like to take photos of the markers at this cemetery but not sure how to get to it and if I'd be trespassing? Looks like there is a road some distance from it . . . is that Eastman Rd?

There is one photo request for the cemetery, perhaps since you have been near there, perhaps you'd like to take that photo?? Might as well photograph all the graves there since there is only a handful!!

I'm 63 and have had 1 knee replacement, not sure I could climb the hills to get there, but I do enjoy these out of the way little cemeteries!!

"Mauricks" and Harriett Finch are buried at Ebenezer Cemetery and already have memorials. Can you please delete yours? They are duplicates and in the incorrect cemetery. I posted most of Mt. Moriah from a list and a photo volunteer took pics of all the stones still standing.

Thank you,

Lesa Pfrommer

RE: Cairo Cemetery near Fairfax, MN
Hello Gregg. Unfortunately I only have information from a personal visit there about 20 years ago. Also a news article from the Fairfax Standard April 8, 1981. Apparently the 4-H group was restoring the graveyard and were recording stones. They had a lady with a devining rod locating graves without markers! The article was copied and left in a DODGE family file at the Olmsted County History Center where I found it. It does not list all the burials -- just mentions a few name that are familiar to the current residents of the area. There is no mention of your ancestor.
The graveyard is out in the middle of crop land on a high point that looks out on a lot of the township. Hopefully someone is keeping it mowed a couple of times a year.
Best of luck in finding your family member

As far as I know, he was just listed. I have never heard that there is a marker.
