RE: Sarah Hull Jenkins
Small world. No, the Hudson City Cemetery is not an Episcopal Cemetery - it is open to all. Sarah Hull Jenkins was the second wife of George N. Simpson. She was from a prominent Quaker family in Hudson and George apparently 'married up' when he married her. He was soon a Custom's official in Hudson. George's youngest child from his first wife Caroline McCann was William Kelly Simpson, M. D. who was extremely young when his mother died. Sarah was the only mother he could have remembered so that is probably why he named his only daughter after her. Dr. WKS and Anna had two sons, one of whom died in childhood and the other was Kenneth Farrand Simpson, Yale graduate and Harvard Law School graduate, and Congressman from NYC when he died January 25, 1938 at his townhouse in Manhattan. He married a socialite whose father was a bank president and they had three daughters and a son, William Kelly Simpson, Ph.D. who married Marilyn E. Milton, one of the two daughters of Abby Rockefeller from her first husband of three. Abby was the only daughter of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Marilyn died many years ago but as far as I know her sister Abby Rockefeller O'Neill is still alive. Marilyn's widowed husband Kelly got a Ph. D. in fine arts from Yale and is a well-know archaeologist and very active in the art world. He has taught at Harvard and Yale and has an estate at Katonah in Westchester County, New York. He also has two daughters and some grandchildren from his daughter Laura. Laura's sister Abby Rockefeller Simpson is married but has no children.

Dr. William Kelly Simpson married Anna Farrand, sister of the half blood of my grandfather Frank Farrand (1866 to 1957). Anna was from the first marriage of my great grandfather, Joseph Steevens Farrand (born in England in 1817 to Quaker parents) and his first wife Elizabeth Carroll born in northern Ireland in 1816. JSF and Elizabeth Carroll were married at St. George's Episcopal Chapel in 1844 at Manhattan where JSF was a very successful grain broker. (The second wife of JSF was Helen Peake, a 35 year old Baptist spinster music teacher in Hudson at the time of her marriage in 1864.) There were 7 children from the first marriage and 5 from the second. Soon after her marriage, Helen joined Christ Episcopal Church in Hudson.
