RE: Memorial # 98607136
No problemo. I've done the same. Sometimes when I search for an existing before I create one, it doesn't show up - until sometime later. Weird.

RE: Benjamin Jones III
I am still in the same research position as before. IF we are talking about the same Benjamin Jones III, the children listed on the memorial and in the published book, do not coincide. Would like to know where the information that is on the memorial came from and was it researched?

Off of what documentation was the children listed came from.

Thank you for your time.

RE: Benjamin Jones III
Is the information that your wife has for Benjamin the same as is on the said Memorial? If so, we need to question it to make sure the research is correct for all concerned.

RE: Benjamin Jones III
Hello, Ray. Judith said that she does not recall who sent her the information of Benjamin III. Can you tell me, since you said this is your wife's direct line, is this the information she has and has it been validated?

Thank you

Benjamin Jones III
I am trying to get some facts straight regarding the Jones Genealogy. For one that is giving the most difficult if Benjamin Jones III., married to Elizabeth Gibbs. In an excerpt that I have from a book that was written by George Russell Jones in 1912. pages 8 & 9 on the 'Genealogy of the Jones Family - Descendants of Benjamin Jones':BENJAMIN JONES, the third, son of Benjamin Jones the second, and his wife Elizabeth, was born in Somers, Conn., in the year of 1710. Benjamin Jones, the third, and Elizabeth, his wife, were published and married Aug. 16th, 1735. Elizabeth, his wife, was born in 1718; there was born to and this union five children, namely: Hannah, born 1736, at Somers, Conn., married David Price in 1759; John, born 1738, at Somers, Conn., married Abigail Cheney Dec. 9th, 1762; Jesse, born Nov. 20th, 1739, at Somers, Conn.; Benjamin, born Dec. 26th, 1741, at Somers, Con11.; Nathan, born 1744, at Somers, Conn. July 5th, 1756, there were laid out to Benjamin Jones, of Somers, Conn., 57 acres of land by land grant, first laid out to his grandfather, Benjamin Jones, the first. Benjamin Jones died Oct. 13th, 1794, age 84 years. Elizabeth, his wife, died June 28th, 1800, 82 years of age.

The names of the children from this article and the ones that you have listed on the Find A Grave memorial are very different. I do know there were more than one Benjamin Jones in this area and the information can be very conflicting, to say the least. Can yo help me out with this. I live on the west coast and can not do this research in person and am totally dependent on others.

Thank you for your help.

Mayflower Descendent
It was very interesting reading that you are a Mayflower descendent. I too am a Mayflower descendent. My Grandfather Earl Decker descends from Edward Doty (Mayflower passenger) and my Grandmother Mable Moore Decker his wife descends from 2 Mayflower Passengers Richard Warren and Edward Fuller.

Then we are cousins Ray. Jonathan and Elenor had a son Aquilla who had a son Robert H. who had a son Howard who had a daughter Emily who had a daughter Ila and then there is me. So Jonathan and Elenor are also my 4th Great Grandparents. I was going to go over to Sardinia yesterday afternoon to take pictures but we got a rain storm should be able to get over there this week.

John Macombers
One nice thing about working on the Macombers is that one of our ancesters did a great job of doing all of the research. If you go to "National Archives" and type in Macomber Genealogy, you can download Everett Stackpoles book free in PDF form. Gives you most of what you will need for the Macomber line of your wifes tree :) That said, I haven't had time to check my Ancestry tree against my book.

Ancestry tree says:
John 1613 (first boots in America)'s parents were:
John Macomber 1585-1650 Bridgeport Dorset England
Edith Locke 1587-1636 Bridgeport Dorset England

John 1585's parents:
Thomas 1560-1621 England
Thomasine Staphill b.1565 England

John Macombers

John b.1651 146785604 (I manage)
is the father of
John b.1681 44319630 (you manage)

I can not add John 1681 as John 1651's son but you can add him as your John 1681's father. :)

RE: John Macomber
You don't need to transfer anything John. I took a second look at it. I created the page for the "Missing John" but when I went to link him to his father and his son, (which did exist, you have them), it wouldn't let me! So, he is out there by himself and unconnected to anything.

As I said, I too am a Mac and have the Family Tree from my grandfather back to England. The National Archives copy of Macomber Genealogy is free to use and download and is most helpful, especially in the early years :)

RE: John Macomber
That works. You can contact me at when you get time. No hurry :)

Added by Sammielane on May 15, 2015 9:17 PM

John Macomber
John Macomber b.1681 is my 5th GGfather and I have the line forward from there. There is another John Macomber between the one you have listed (115056290) and the end of my line - John Macomber b. 1651 and my line would link to your entry.

If you would like to transfer your John Macomber 115056290 to me, I'll enter the missing John with the info I have from "Macomber Genealogy" and link them both to my tree or if you would like, enter the missing John and then enter the site number for John Macomber 44319630 as son, it should link them all together.

Let me know.
