Rodercik "Roger" McKinzie-McKenzie
Hello Gail McKinzie Clark,
I have found your posting of Roderick McKenzie B.1761 D. 1835, Sevier Co. Tn.
My story of how I found this is very long, I will make it as bfief as possible.
My ggg grandfather is this Roderick McKenzie.
I now live in Sevierville, Tn.
It seems I just fell into this information you have posted .
The Cemetery listings for Fork of the Little Pigeon River Baptist Church. Doesn't have Roderick McKenzie as being buried there.
That doesn't mean he's not buried in it.
The Church First Baptist Church of Sevierville now covers a few acres.
I have talked to the gentleman who has written two books my wife has about the cemetery.
Also my son in law's brother is head of maintenance came over tonight and I gave him a copy of your posting.
He is going to research it and see if he can find any records of Roderick being buried there.

Find A Grave list 32 burials of 4 unknowns, perhaps one of these could be Roderick.
My question is where did the information about Roderick came from.
If I can find his Grave I would like to post this information on it.

I have a Pedigree for Roderick McKenzie, perhaps your line may be in there, will share this if you like?

Not by blood but as a teen I felt like she was a soul sister whenever I listened to "Down on Me". I was happy to see not just fans posting today. That's why I sent you the message. Thanks for replying!

Taming Texas
Gail, You suggested that I get "Taming Texas". I did and it is very interesting. I was raised in Crockett and didn't know that all those things went on in Houston County. Thanks

Don't know of relation of the two. Could very well have been they were just one county apart, but am not kin so do not have the family info.

Hi Gail, Maybe you meant to send me a correction for someone else? The tombstone appears to say she was 36 years old?

Mother and father were reversed in the links. I've seen that a few times before. I think possibly before the new, automated edit system was set up that I got so used to people sending father first, mother second that some may have got entered wrong if people sent them mother first.

Sarah Hall Murchison
Gail, I appreciate all that you do. Your work in these matters is most valuable.
I am a descendant of William A. Murchison, born 1809 and after reading your entry on Mary Murchison Sadler, I wonder if you know who Sarah Hall Murchison's husband was.

Thanks Lee Hale

RE: Doak Capps Melear, Jr
Will do, Gail. I should be finished with the "Westlawn" section in less than a week. I found some Melears there and there might be more.

I still need to finish "Mt Moriah" and "Hillcrest." I expect that about 10% of the graves there have no Memorial. So stay tuned!

If you haven't called the cemetery office to confirm his grave location, you will find them helpful. When they tell you where he is buried, please let me know and I will check it for you.

RE: Daniel M'Kinzie/McKenzie

I need to clarify this -

My direct line is Daniel's (1765-1850) brother, David. Then from David's (1763-1849)son John (1795-1852) to Daniel (1824-1876) who is my 3rd great grandfather.

I was so excited my words came out before my brain could

Anyway, please mail me!

Hi Gail!!

YES, Daniel is my 3rd Great Grandfather!!

I would absolutely love to see the family history you have...I just (within the past month) broke through the McKenzie brick wall on my mother's side by guessing many birthdates, etc.

Here's my email:

I am 'hondalily' on

Thanks so much for the reply!

I believe we are cousins as Daniel (memorial 41135937) is my 5th great grand uncle and your 3rd great grandfather.

I am on Facebook and; are you?

I've seen your flowers posted on other McKenzie relatives as well. If you are interested in connecting with me and finding out how/through whom we are related, contact me!
I've just recently made a breakthrough on my mother's McKenzie branch within the past week and after 25+ years, I am very excited to find McKenzie cousins!

You can delete a pending edit. Go to the drop down list on your profile page and select edits I have sent that are pending (or similar) and click on the little x on the right hand side. I just recently found this and though I would pass the info along.
