I wish I knew more, but all I really knew to start was that I had a 3rd Great Grandfather named James Nickell Herring, who was the son of Ruth Nickell and Benjamin Herring. It was only through online reasearch that I tracked her family back to (West) Virginia.

My 4th great grandmother was Ruth Nickell. She was a daughter of James and Barbara Nickell, who I believe are buried there.

My name is Steve and I sent a message to Earnest Nickell about the family. I was wondering if you are related to the Nickells family. I live in Arizona, but wish to make it back there some day and see these cemeteries and family land. I also wanted to thank you for what you have added here and what your doing at the cemeteries.

I am not related toe the Arritt Family of which I am aware. My Great Aunt, Leila Blanche Bess worked for the WPA Writer's Project back during the Roosevelt Presidency.
She wrote short stories, biographies of many local families and mapped many cemeteries. When she submitted submitted those items, she would usually include a photo of whatever she was documenting.
I do believe the Bess and Arritt Families were probably neihbors at Potts Creek, VA...

No I am no relation to the Curry family. I do not know of any more burials there other than what I have listed. But there may be more that were never marked.

Do you have any information on the cause of death for John Baker. I have never been able to find any cause for his death at 51 years of age. I am a Baker-Faudree-Wickline descendant and have made multiple trips to Sweet Springs. Any info you have would be appreciated.

|Rodney Dillon Jr.||Perrys, Nickells|
Thanks for your efforts! Yes, I'm a descendant of John and Elizabeth (Nickell) Perry. According to the information I have, John's father Daniel owned about 400 acres in what is today Monroe County. The family settled in the "Sinks" area of northern Monroe. The Greenbriar Co. Survey Book for the 1780s shows him with 380 acres. In 1794 he was deeded 400 acres on Second Creek. Daniel and wife Eleanor sold that 400 acres in 1802 when they moved to Kentucky.
I hope that's some help. I can send an outline of all the info. I have on Daniel and Eleanor in W. Va. if you'd like, but it might be too long for this board.

Tracie, I am so pleased to get your note about your project. I do wish I could be there to help you. George Washington Nickell is Father-in-law to my 2nd cousin 2x removed. His daughter, Sydney Jane Nickell married my cousin James O. Miller. I have another relative there, James E Miller (1826-1876). He is my Great Grand Uncle. I was hoping to make the trip from Fort Worth this summer but things didn't work out. If you don't mind keep me posted on your progress. Thanks so very much, Bob & Audrey Miller
