Thank you very much for posting this veteran to Find a Grave. Donald was my Uncle - a very special Uncle that passed when I was 14. I am so happy to find a link to his resting place.

Rueben Sparhawk
You requested a photo of Mary Sparhawk. On the same marker was Reuben. I created a memorial for Rueben since there wasn't one. If you would like for me to transfer this memorial to you, just ask. I see from your site, you are managing veterans' memorials.

Hi Robin,
I added Mable's picture like you requested, check the spelling on her first name, I believe it was incorrect on her memorial?

Hi I also added a picture of his wife's headstone since she does not have a memorial of her own but is mentioned on Emery's.

Oh, no. Did I miss Mr. Sayre's wife's grave?! I can't believe I did that. I will go back out there this week and get a photo of her headstone. Sorry! The memorial that you did is very nice; he had an interesting life.

Dear Robin,
I cannot thank the Colfax Veterans enough for posting my dad's tombstone. What a thrill for me to find it on Memorial Day!
He served in WW2.
I'll keep posting pictures and info on him. He was a great loving person.

Thank you, Robin! The info has been added to his memorial. Thanks also for all the great headstone photos you've added to my Iowa Hill memorials. Nice to see them properly "marked" online.

Thank you for the link to his father!
As far as adding a soldier's photo to Calif. Genealogy Trails' webpage at:, I would suggest clicking on the "Submit Data" link on that page and sending it that way, being specific that it goes with the Placer County soldiers articles. That's great that you have a soldier's picture to add. I scoured the internet, looking for pictures but didn't have much luck except for grainy newspaper photos, which I wasn't keen to use. Please keep in mind that it might be a while before the photo appears because of the amount of data received by Brenda, the website's host.
Also, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the articles. The project was a labor of love, and I came to feel like I was related to these brave young men. Very frustrating when I couldn't find the full story on a few of them, as you can imagine. I felt like I let them down. Thanks again!

Helen Watts was a army nurse. I posted a article to her site from 1919 about their wedding. Her husband is there also his name is James L. Watts. I sent a message to link them and update her maiden name. James served in the army and had returned from France.
