RE: Noel G Hopson
Charles, I'm glad you appreciated my photo of Noel's grave. To be honest, I have to admit I found it accidentally, as I was looking for the stone of another person with a similar name (Ogle E. Hobson). Turns out it worked out well for everyone.....just a bit of luck....Richard

Samuel, Clement, and Annice Arnold Carter
Hello Charles,

I wanted to let you know that I just e-mailed the member that set up the "Mountain Creek Cemetery" in Albemarle, here on Find-A-Grave. He's only had one headstone in there.

He describes it as;

"Abandoned cemetery, full of trees, a few fieldstone markers, several sunken graves."

He also gives direction;

"Head north on Mountain Creek Road (SR 1522) . About 100yds past the intersection with Kemp Road (SR 1535), there is a path on your left. Pull off road and park."

I'm trying to find out if this is where the photo's you took of Samuel Carter (1740-1818), Clement Carter (1770-1827), and Annice Arnold Carter (1773-1849) might belong?

I keep finding death certificates with "Old Mountain Creek Cemetery" or just Mountain Creek. Some are located at Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and some apparently are out in the woods off Mountain Creek Road.

If this one doesn't turn out to be it ... Do you want to set up a new cemetery location for the three Carters you found? So we can keep them posted on Find-A-Grave, and hopefully add to it, or learn more about who's there with them?

Let me know what you think, and thanks again for all your help!

- Mike

Rene M. Coffelt "Kinnick"
RE: Leon Gratis Kinnick (Doc)
Hello Charles:

Since receiving your message I went through my geneology pictures and I have several pictures of Doc and one of a daughter of Doc's named Carla. I thought I had a couple with Mabel but I can't find them right now. I am sorry, I do not know anything about her personally. If you would like me to email you pics of Doc just let me know. and I will inform you once I find the 2 I believe I have of Mabel....

Carters at Carter-Tishie Cemetery
Thanks so much for all the Carter photo's at The Carter Tishie Cemetery. They were a huge help!

I added memorial pages for the pictures you took that didn't already have them. So you can add the photos onto those pages now.

I wanted to ask you .... Were there many other headstones there? I've always imagined it as a smaller, family type cemetery. But a couple of your photo's made it look bigger than I'd thought.

There's a few other Carter relatives and spouses that I think might be buried there, but I'd been waiting to find more solid sources before including them.

Any other info about / or from the cemetery would be much appreciated. It's been a bit of a mystery to me as to which branches of the Carter tree might have some relatives there.

The broken headstone in the cemetery (of Jarret Carter 1800-1882) is my 3rd Great Grandfather. Whitson D Carter is my 2nd Great Grandfather. George Albert Carter is my Great Grandfather, and Marvin Stuart Carter was my Grandfather.

My other main family names include multiple lines of Russell, Lowder, Smith, Hearne, Holt, Harris, Sides, Coggins, etc .... all from the early families of the Albemarle/ Stanly / Montgomery County areas. So basically, I'm pretty much related to anyone that ever breathed Stanly County air. ;-)

Anyway, Thanks again for the photo's. I really appreciate your time and effort to get them.

Have a great week!

- Mike

Smith and Campbell

I have transferred Lovie Smith and Lulu Campbell to you. I am so happy to have them linked with other family members. I was at the cemetery one day with a friend and took several pictures of headstones around the one I was looking for.

Have a great day!!
