Hi Scott, Are you related to Eva? I could try to get her obit if you are. Tx.

Chris VandenBerg
Edward B Vanden Berg genealogy
Mr. Jensen, I came across your name, and subsequently your email address, through the find-a-grave website.

My name is Chris Vanden Berg, and I am the great-grandson of Edward B Vanden Berg. My grandfather is Jerry (brother of Melvin). I have been doing some on and off research about my family tree. Through familysearch.com, I came across the find-a-grave site. I was totally fascinated by the picture of Edward and the family as I do not have anything, really, from that generation on the Vanden Berg side of the family except for names. My father died about a dozen years ago, but he never shared much about the family history. I have been largely stumped trying to go back farther than Edward (at least with any confidence). Between the Benís (Berends), Beerts, Burts, Egberts, etc. on the male sides and the Jane, Jantje, Kleis, Klus, Trumpetter, Trumpener, Hendrika, Hendrina variations on the female side, I think I have some good information, but I am not sure. And that is only what I have been able to, sort of, put together using the familysearch site. I have no idea when or why the family came to America.

Do you have any actual, genuine information about the Vanden Berg tree going back beyond Edward? If so, I would love to know what you might have.

I live in Lancaster, PA. Hopefully you get this. I am not sure how this might work, but I thought I would give it a try.

Chris

Gijs Groen
RE: van Appeldoorn memorial
Hallo Scott,
I am not related. I am volunteerly helping people abroad to find their roots in The Netherlands. Coincidentally I am living in the city of Apeldoorn, in the old days also spelled as Appeldoorn. I am quite familiar with Dutch sources of genealogy, hence if you have further questions about your great-great-parents in the Netherlands, just let me know.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Gijs Groen

Yes, they are. The online Allen County Public Library genealogy section just tells where the obits can be located in the library. I have a list of obits I want to look for when I can get there. I can add yours to my list. I usually only get into Fort Wayne about once a week so I will need to plan a special trip so that I can go there and look up all my requests.

I also found out that Mrs. Huldy has an obit in the Journal Gazette, Page 2 on 3-29-1915 and in the News Sentinel, Page 10 on 3-29-1915 under the name Hulda Sutton. This may be the person you are looking for.
Good evening.

James Sutton, Lindenwood
Does not have a tombstone. Also on that same lot is a James Sutton who died March 14, 1907 (I assume this may be a son) and he does not have a tombstone either. There is no mention of a Huldah Sutton in their records. Also on O-16 is a William and Mary Krudop and a Barnhart and Susan Hazzard.

I looked where catherine is supposed to be buried and I found no gravestone. There was a Franklin J Vandyke 1925-1986 in that plot.

Hi Scott,

Thank you for the transfer of the memorials. I will email you what information I have and my sources. In the meantime do you happen to use the Legacy Family Tree program? I have all my information in that program but if you don't I will try to transfer it to pdf or jpg format for you.

Thanks again for the transfer.

William Thorp
Hi Scott, Thank you for taking the time to search for William's grave and to take a photo and describe the plot, since there is no marker. I was trying to determine when William was born to see if he might possibly be a husband of Cecelia Thankful Johnson Thorp Ringsrud (marker #148926223). She had married a William Thorp in Michigan and then moved to Washington state, where she married Barney Ringsrud. Such a jigsaw puzzle ... nice to find the pieces, but on this one, I'm not quite sure. Hopefully someone will find the answer. Anyhow, thank you so much for your assistance!

RE: J Wolters photo request
My husband, who is almost 88, told me John wolters married his grandmother after her first husband (Timmer) died and he thought "Grandpa Wolters" died in 1959. Today when I asked him about it, he said "oh no, he died in either 1937 or 1938." (A typical senior moment.) Anyway, we have a picture of his grandmother and John Wolters and I would like to put it on correct memorial and thought a picture of gravestone would make me more certain I have the correct man. Maybe it would be a good idea to get pictures of the 1929, 1937 and anyone else you run across right near their graves.

Thank you so much for helping out.
