I found John in the Vermont Veterans' Cemetery in Randolph Center VT. I began a "page" or him.

RE: Daniel Bacon memorial
You're very welcome. He was in a row of about 8 headstones, all the same shape and size. Some had Bacon as their name, but some didn't. I took pictures of all of them. When I went to add the photos to Find A Grave, I found that 3 of them were't even listed. So I created memorials for them. All I put in was the name and dates that were on the stones since I didn't know anything else about them.

RE: H tombstone
I did look some for Hiram to see if he died in Bristol but no luck. In 1850 they were in Brandon, Rutland County, VT. I did find two of her sisters buried together in the Poultney Cemetery in Poultney, Rutland, VT.
Adaline Baldwin Ross & Senelda (some recs as Sarah) Baldwin are buried together. Maybe Hiram and wife (too many spellings of Rose or Rox) will pop up in the Rutland county area.

Baldwin Bristol VT
The burial for H Baldwin is unmarked. I put a picture on for the plots owned by H Baldwin and Harriet is the only marker. The cemetery records only show that H was buried here and unmarked but no dates. We think it might be Hiram but no one knows. I put the burial on line in hopes that someone some day will have some record on who is buried there for sure. Sorry.

RE: Thompson Bacon, Jr
It's named after the Shawsheen River which I believe runs through or near the cemetery. I think it is an old Indian name for the river, but I don't think it has anything to do with any Indian burials there. Do you want me to ask at that cemetery if they have a record for Thompson Bacon, Jr.?

Thompson Bacon, Jr

Here's a bit of information I don't know if you've seen in your search for Thompson Bacon, Jr. I did see on a Boston record that he was buried in Bedford. However a survey of the gravestones at the Old Burying Ground do not have a listing for him. But here are these notes:

"For 118 years, the Old Burying Ground was the Town's only place for internment. In 1890 History of Bedford, AE Brown wrote that 'authenticated records indicate that 1400 bodies are buried there.' The only records are of the gravestones themselves of which there are 396 bearing 449 names. In addition, there are names of 47 people buried in the remaining tombs, making a total of 496 persons buried.

In 1849, Shawsheen Cemetery was established and, although burials continued at the Old Burying Ground until 1894, some bodies were moved to Shawsheen at this time."

RE: Re: Bacons

Hi,
The Bacons were among the most prominent families in Bedford. I've gotten some help to see if I can find the gravestone of Thompson Bacon, Jr. but I think it might be an unmarked gravestone. There are a few very small stones, unmarked in front of Ruben's. If you would like me to do some research at the historical society, I might be able to in the coming weeks, except the weather is supposed to be very bad for the next week. If you have any particular questions about the Bacons I will see what I can find, and if you want any more shots to Ruben's gravestone or the small ones in front of it, I will be glad to send them to you, though I think it would be better to send them to your regular email, rather than post too many on find a grave. Let me know if you want any further info or photos.

Re: Bacons

Hi,
Just a note to let you know a couple of things about the Bacon photos you requested. I went to the cemetery today and found the headstone for Reuben, but since the weather was bad the photo didn't come out that well so I'll try again when (hopefully) it gets better. There is already a nice photo for Thompson Bacon Esq. on Find a grave. There appears to be two listings for the same person. The one you probably saw was the Esq Thompson Bacon one. As far as I know Esq. is a suffix that denotes an attorney in the US,or a courtesy title, not a first name. There is another listing for Thompson Bacon, according to dates - the same person, which already has the photo with Esq. listed on the headstone.
I couldn't find a headstone for Thompson Bacon, Jr. but will look again when I re-photograph Reuben (sp. Ruben on the headstone)

Best regards,
Kaija

re- Henry Photos

If it's okay with you, I cropped your original photo and posted it as an additional image on Joe Henry's memorial as well as a close-up image on Barbara's memorial.
I added a caption note on both photos, that the credit belongs to you. Any problem with this, just let me know and I'll delete them. Thanks again.

Hi Darrell. I have added Barbra's memorial, 119743654, and have linked it with her husband. It has been put into the Southern Maine Vets Cemetery in error and the contributor is is contactable, I have contacted Find A Grave to delete the one that is misplaced. You may want to duplicate his grave photo to her memorial

Darrell,
I have just seen the photos you took for me of the gravestones of my 4th great grandparents Rufus & Ruth Lunt, their son Joshua and his wife Eleanor, and they look great! Thank you very much for this. It is greatly appreciated. By the way, I have a few more relatives buried in the same cemetery for which I may post additional photo requests. Perhaps you will have occasion to return there, if it's not too far from home.
Michael

Thanks for loading the larger version on the Hanscom memorial - that works so much better! If you do that in the future all of the users would be endebted to you!

RE: Hanscom stones
Thank you for offering to send the higher res versions. ralphgowen at yahoo dot com will get to me... or you could just put on the site if that's convenient I have to believe that you'd be successful loading much higher res versions. I usually just ignore the warning and them anyway, and it takes them.

Hanscom stones
Thank you for taking these pictures. I've noticed that you tend to load lower resolution photos on FindAGrave. Is it possible to start loading higher resolution photos? I often times need to expand them to really get the correct inscriptions and the lower resolution ones simply don't expand nicely.

Regardless - thanks again!
