Hi Marci. I did do the edit in Find a Grave. My sources are the 1850, 1860 and 1880 census records. They all show she was born in Wisconsin.

Mary Jane Peacock Teasdale
Hi Marci. Thank you for the work you do on Find a Grave. I just wanted to let you know that you have Mary Jane's place of birth wrong. Her parents immigrated to the United States in May 1842. Mary Jane was born Sep. 1943 so she could not have been born in Arkengarthdale, England. She was born in New Diggings, Lafayette, Wisconsin.

RE: Evlin Conway
Sounds like a good idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will let you know how this develops. It seems it would still make the memorial difficult to find because it would not be among our memorials we manage, but the main thing is that information about Dr. McCune and Evlin would be expanded. Thanks for your help.

Robert Johnson
Lilly Ross
The 1850 Federal Census lists Lilly Ross as 66 years old; making her birth year 1784.

Robert Johnson
Robert Ross
I see that Lilly Ross, Fairview, Guernsey Cty, Ohio is (per inscription) w/o of Robert. There is a Robert also buried in Fairview Cemetery (only other Ross buried in this cemetery). However, the F A G entry shows birth 1874 and death 1958. If Lilly is the widow of Robert shouldn't the b & d for Robert be b. 1774 and d. 1858. Makes reasonable sense. ??

I mention this after finding Robert & Lilly included in my g g grandfather/mother Federal Census 1850 for William and Matilda Borton (Oxford County, Ohio 1850)

Thank you.

Please add the below obit to Joyce posting. Thanks
Joyce E. Fieldstad
Born: March 20, 1929
Died: December 30, 2014

Send Flowers
Joyce E. Fieldstad, 85, of Gratiot Township, WI, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014, surrounded by family. Joyce was born March 20, 1929 in Monticello Township, the daughter of the late Roy and Florence (Sowerby) Haffele. She married Robert E. Fieldstad on September 5, 1948 at the Warren Presbyterian Church. Together they raised three daughters; Susan, Sharon and Sandy. Joyce and Bob farmed in the area for many years before Bob’s death in 1985. Following her husband’s untimely death, she continued to manage the family farm with the help of her son-in-law, Steven Kent.
Joyce pursued a number of volunteer and other activities. Some of these included ceramics, antique bottle collecting using her metal detector and birding in a wide number of locations. She was an avid reader and passed this love of reading to her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading to children in a number of schools located across Lafayette County. Her most passionate activities surrounded her work with her local Warren United Methodist Church, in which she served in a multitude of roles; and working with the Wisconsin chapter of Home and Community Education (formerly known as State Extension Homemakers). She joined HCE as a young bride, and served 3-year term as state president of the Wisconsin chapter of the HCE from 1994 to 1997, the first president to be elected from Lafayette County.

Many in the area will remember Joyce for her culinary skills. Her pies were delicious, and no holiday meal at the Fieldstad household would be complete without her saffron roles, fruit salad and steamed suet pudding.

Joyce doted on her four grandchildren; Jill, Megan, Matt and Brian. Despite her many activities, she strived to be an active member of their lives by attending as many of their sporting and academic activities as possible.

Above all, Joyce enjoyed traveling. Before her husband’s death, the two of them could often be seen touring the area in their restored antique cars. Following Bob’s death, she was fortunate to see many parts of the world through her associations with HCE, birding clubs and the United Methodist ministries. For most of her travels, she chose to live with local host families to better understand their culture and way of life.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters: Susan (Michael) Endress of Milwaukee; Sharon (Steven) Kent of Gratiot; and Sandra (William) Wiley of Janesville; four grandchildren: Jill (Cory) Weber of Milwaukee; Megan (Keith) Kenyon of Milwaukee; Matthew (Rachel) Kent of Oregon; and Brian (Heidi) Kent of Deerfield; as well as seven great-grandchildren: Jaydon, Devon, Kaleigha, Allison, Ashton, Gavin and Grady; and her sister-in-law Vivian Kepner, Lena IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, brother Robert Haffele and sister Phyllis Daer.

The family is very appreciative of the loving care provided by Leean White, Glenda Carter, and the staff of the Linden Grove Mukwonago and Seasons Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren IL with Pastor Kevin Cernek officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until time of service at the same location.

A brief interment ceremony will be held at the Gratiot Cemetery immediately following the service with a luncheon at the Warren Community House for a further celebration of Joyce’s life.
A memorial fund in Joyce’s name has been created to be disbursed to her favorite charitable organizations.

Oh by the way Marci

I was all over the internet and cannot
find a portrait of Abram. I am hoping that
you may have resources there in Wisconsin to
find an image of Abrham.

Many Thanks

Hi Marcy

I added the bio for Abram that is published by the National Gallery of Art. He is
quite famous and I am surprised he does not have
info at his Find-A-Grave profile. The
Wisconsin Historical Society has one of his
paintings posted at their website.

I hope this brief bio is acceptable and I
made sure to include a source.

Thank You

Living vs Memorials
I appreciate the people which have gone through and gave the list of who is alive and who is not, but there are several which we know personally, that should not have a memorial as of yet. I would like to know how that process works because it seems a little "off" I guess. I sent quite a few requests to another person but have not gotten any response, but hope that they hold to the guidelines as you do.

Let me know if you can or how I can find out if you don't mind. I am eager to learn.
Thanks Marci, I appreciate it.

Well I thought what the heck... I looked her up in the phone book and I called her. She lives in Cuba City. I just explained I was updating the cemetery and her husband's listing and wanted to be respectful and make sure we knew we took pictures of the stone. So, there is my proof :)

Memorials - Living
Hi Marci, first, thanks so much for everything you are doing, you are awesome !! I hope I can meet you someday. Second, another question... is there a way we can mark the living people so the date says living & not unknown ? I print the list of the cemetery off and go through it to picture everyone & check for accurate dates that does not have one online. It is certainly time consuming if I would look for someone with an unknown date of death if they are alive. I have found a few at St. Matthews already. I know you deleted one but there are more.
Let me know your thoughts or suggestions on what I might be able to do.

Great idea. If I have actual proof and the I see the edits are valid I will send them on to you. If they are substantial, I will include my sources for you.

RE: John Boyle & everyone else.
I wish I could do more. I have the Church burial records and the cemetery plot records & map of each grave and the person in them so I have pretty accurate documents. I have been cross checking on Ancestry.com but don't hold that unless I see actual paper proof on that site either. I will do my best to make this accurate. I have made a lot of edits, I am really sorry about that because you worked so hard creating so much my goodness. I hope it will be the best in the end.
You're awesome, I really appreciate your help.
