RE: Cottles in Troy
Yes, Nell says she would very much like to know more about the Cottles. I don't know all the dates, etc. she recalls her family visiting "Uncle Henry" Cottle from her young days. He died in 1955 and we had been married in 1952, just out of Baylor Univ..

RE: Cottles in Troy
My wife's Cottle line is:

Joseph Cottle
Leander Frederick Trent Cottle
Leander Criswell Cottle
Candace Cottle
Henry F. Gilbreath
Nelma Gilbreath. My wife.

I have a Silvanus Cottle name only for Joseph's father.

Who is your common ancestor and what is your line from him? I'm trying to get your relationship to my wife.

Wow, you have really researched the Cottles! Candace Cottle in Texas married Charles Gilbreath. I have visited her grave and have photos of it. My wife was a Gilbreath from Amarillo, TX. We now live in Ballwin, MO about 10-15 miles southeast of Cottlesville.

Thanks Debbie.

Go to FindAGrave Memorial# 15583538 to see the graves of the early Texas Cottles. Read the marker in the photo that I added. I have lots of other photos taken by my brother. He lives just a few miles from the cemetery and rode his bike out there to get them for me.

Cottles in Troy
Debbie, are you related to any of the Cottles who settled in Troy, MO? There were a few of them that moved on to Texas, near Smithville, TX. My wife's grandmother was descended from those Cottles. We were transferred from Texas to the St. Louis area and I have been intending to run up to Troy to visit the cemetery there and see her ancestor' starves there.

RE: Elizabeth McClellan
Debbie,

I'm sure we have communicated before. I'm sure you recognize the names Inglis, Coday and Schuldt.

John Henry's older sister Martha S. McClellan was my 2nd great grandmother

Andrew Cottle
Lorenzo Cottle
Hello - thanks for all you have done and are doing. I am writing because I would love to know of the documentation for Fulton as the middle name of Lorenzo Cottle. I have done Cottle genealogy for forty years and have never seen this before. I am the Historian for Mayflower Society in Delaware. If you are not a member of Mayflower Society, in line of descent from Warren or John Cottle, I can help you with that.

How is Virgil Stewart related to Edwin Orlando Stewart? I made the changes to Virgil's dates. Donna

You're welcome. If you find any more family or friends who I manage, please let me know. Only about 5% of my memorials are my own family.

Are you also a Cottle person? My great grandmother is Hermie Scott. If you are you should be in touch with Marj Miller who still lives in Montgomey City, Mo. Her husband was the grandson of Orlana Cottle who was Hermie's sister, they went to college together.

I have been to Highland Prairie 2 times once in Oct 2003 & once in 2005, my best recollection is that the children all seemed to be buried there but none of the small stones were readable nor was I able to identify which stone might have been which child. However since then when I had the stoke in 2007 I don't always rely on my recollections, better than I was for a long while but not as good as I once was. Thanks for the added information.

RE: Mary Farnsworth
These dates of death pre-date the earliest known burials in Fitchburg. Prior to 1764, the dead were brought to Lunenburg for burial.

Take care,

Bill

RE: Mary Farnsworth
Debbie,

Let me do some checking on this.

I find some information in a secondary source that was compiled ca mid-1930s. There are many errors, omissions, etc., but it often provides good leads.

This index is typewritten, and shows the lot numbers with names and year of death (if known).

The entry for Mary Farnsworth does not have a date of death. The cemetery office may be able to provide more information on this lot (they can be reached via email).

A quick look at the records I have within reach show another Farnsworth very close by; however, this one also omits the given name.

I do have listings for at least 16 other Farnsworths: most with dates of death listed.

I'll keep checking...please let me know if there are any other names you are looking for.

Take care,

Bill

Cousin Debbie,

It is my pleasure to transfer this memorial to you. You are much more closely related than I am.

I'll be glad to ask Hap's daughter Anna about the name, but I'm sure you understand if she wants me to keep it this way. And I do appreciate your interest.

Sorry, but I won't be making your change for Hap's mother's name. I entered it like Hap's daughter told me it was. She was dictating what I was entering in my records. She is my grandchildren's other grandmother, so I will keep her family's records the way she wants them.

RE: Berl Stout
Debbie,
I understand your goal! I feel the same about my family.

I try to steal away one day every couple of weeks for genealogy of some kind, so if you need more people searched out, I'll try to work them in. I try to keep up on 7 or 8 cemeteries, but I work 2 jobs.

Do you want to create a memorial for Deloris Stout's husband Berl? They share a stone, so I took a picture of the stone itself, then a close-up for each side. If you don't want to create it, I would be glad to do so. Let me know!
