Linda Dukes
Memorial Transfer
You can delete my memorial and keep yours, whatever you choose to do :-)

Dukes/Duke
Mathew Anderson Dukes was the brother of my 2nd great grandfather, William Charles Dukes Sr. Mathew's first 4 sons are the only ones that dropped the s at the end of Dukes. Family oral history says that they thought they might inherit some of the North Carolina tobacco Duke fortune, but it was not meant to be. No proof has ever been found that we are closely related to that family.
another Family oral history is that when Laura Malissa, Mathew's first wife died Mathew said "Now there is only 1 why do we need the S? This to me seems highly unlikely...I bet we will never really know why White, Walker, Wilson & Coulter dropped the s at the end of Dukes...

RE: duplicate memorial
Here is a tip, now don't take this wrong...When you see a memorial, and you KNOW it is in the wrong cemetery, the right thing to do is contact that contributor and tell them them to move that memorial to the correct cemetery. NOT to create a newer memorial...
Please use the edit feature on the memorial you are referring to, and I will transfer.

RE: Chester & John Price
Can you tell me where you got the obits? Or maybe if you send them I can post them on their memorials.

You sent me an update to add the parents, but I can not find death certificates or census records with Roy and Edith Price. Where did you get your information?

Thanks

Wooderson/Stotts Family
I am related to Mildred Alice Wooderson, she is my 1st cousin 2x removed. Her father Thomas Edward Wooderson and my ggrandmother Amanda Caroline (Wooderson) Weathers were siblings. I have found more cousins no matter how distant they may be through this website. It is so awesome!

Would you mind removing these flowers:

"Rest in peace, Mary Jane, Neighbor in Independence,Mo.

Added: Feb. 12, 2013"

...you left for Janie in February. It's my fault for not placing a note that Janie was still with us. She just passed away September the 12th. Thank you.

RE: Stotts
She was a Whisler, but she's related to the Stotts, Dinsmores, Fitzpatricks and a lot of the families in those two cemeteries. Abraham Stotts was her 3rd great grandfather.

You and Kathi are cousins! About 75% of those buried at Sharon and Springer are related to her, too!

Have fun!!

RE: Rachael Jennings McQuerry
Dixie,

I'm in the midst of moving into a new home so somewhat busy -- however, I remember the Jennings clan. I think that Elijah Jennings (1771-1843) originally from Orange, VA and died in Russell, KY fits right into your research. He married Sarah Shepherd (1774-1856) my 3rd great grand aunt. It all fits, but I don't know the final summary. Have not worked this line for a time. Sarah and Elijah married in Wilkes, as well as that being the birth location for your Jennings mystery. I'll bet you can sort this out. Bill

RE: Rachael Jennings McQuerry
Hi Dixie,

My apology for not initially understanding your needs -- and you may be receiving a second reply to the first question. I keep a couple of ancestry.coms and one findagrave open on my screen simultaneously and sometimes things don't go perfectly, you know what I mean? Anyway, your interested in Rachel Jennings (1805-1834) 1st wife of James McQueary/McQuerry, my second great grand uncle, as far as I know. Sorry, but I have no additional information other than what you find in ancestry.com. She was from Wilkes, along with the Parrs, Cases, et al. I would suggest you research the Jennings family in North Carolina to find her family. The Parrs and Cases originally migrated from Morris, NJ after the Rev War - and I suppose there might be some Jennings connection back then - but a long shot. Can I help with anything else? Bill in Arizona

Hi Dixie,
Marmaduke is my first cousin, 3X removed. Please sort which Rachel you need, have hundreds in two very large trees. Need a surname. Thanks, Bill
