Shepherd/Shepard Grave photos
Thank you so much for the wonderful photos of the Shepherd family graves at the Barfield-Shepherd Cemetery. I was thrilled to see them! I am a descendant of Annie Johnson Shepherd. She is also buried there - I was wondering if you snapped a photo of her grave or any of her babies (Calista, Henry, PG) laid to rest there? maybe they do not have a headstone?
Thank you!

Byrd memorials
Something strange has been going on here. I created all the Byrd memorials for Crowell cemetery that were not already created, including Quinton, Russell Warren, Abner, Albert, Bell, D.W. (1897), Emma Kilby Byrd, Estelle Waters Byrd, Herman G., Ida R., J.S., Jason E., Jesse B. and wife Mary Lizzie Hortmon Byrd, Joe Dixon, Luther H., Roland E. and Wyolene. All 18 memorials are missing. I reviewed all my memorials again last night and some like Anna's have the bio's on two memorials mixed together. Other memorials I created in other cemeteries have the last letter of all names missing, some have just the 1st or last names but not both, others have one or both dates missing. Some where I entered "Infant Son" in the bio section had been changed to "Infant Male". I thought no one could edit a bio but the one who manages it. I verify my memorials after I create them so I know it wasn't something I did. Any idea what is going on?

Mildred Sams
Thanks, Sandy for adding my aunt, Mildred Sams, to Find A Grave. She was my mothers older sister. I have added her parents memorial number so it should show them as well as 2 of her sisters and her brother that have passed.

Thanks again,

Sandy, I noticed that you maintain the site for Elizabeth Rayburn in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylor County, Ga. I have been researching the Rayburn family for the past 6 years, and I'm trying to figure out if this Rayburn might be related to me. If you know of anyone who can help me with this, please have them e-mail me at

Elizabeth Collier
Hello, I am a descendant of Vines Collier's daughter, Elizabeth. I was wondering if you had any information on what source is cited for the births of his children? I see each has an exact birthdate just curious if it comes from a family bible, etc. Thanks!

re: James Franklin Spiller
I agree! Some of these supposed burials do seem strange. I have had a terrible time with all the Taylor Co GA cemetery surveys. I can not determine if it was the fault of the "surveyors" or the person who "retyped" the survey for on-line usage. When a "survey" is done it is suppose to represent the "actual" markers. Not the interpretation by the surveyor or addtions by the retyper. The Taylor County surveys have full names listed, when only the intials are on the markers. They also have full dates added when none or only the years are on the marker. That is why I always add "Marker reads as ..." to my memorials, when there is a difference.

Then their are listings for family that the surveyor thinks "ought" to be in the cemetery because of the relationship. If you try to contact the surveyor, guess what! that email address isn't valid! Considering the number of errors in Taylor County I wonder if the surveyors actually went to the cemeteries or all their info was from the census or family trees on-line. I think the *astrisk next to an entry means she's "guessing".

If you find my memorials in another cemetery I will be glad to correct the burial location. I wish I could visit the cemeteries myself, but I am not physically able to get out anymore. Thank you so much for the work you do for Find A Grave.

Thank you for adding the photos of her gravesite. According to, she is my second cousin, 3x removed. The Petermans are a hugh family.

Out of curiosity, does the Wainwright Cemetery have a sign or something you could take a photo of and put on the Wainwright site? There is nothing there at all but a map. I put the cemetery photos in until I can find a copy of the gravesites sometimes.

Thanks again for all your help,

Thank you so much for the photos of Mary Augusta Peterman Wainwright - Gussie. That branch of the family is coming along. I hope to find as many of my "tree" as I can. I always give credit to and the loyal photographers that take the photos when I put them in my genealogy. Someone asked me why I do all 'that extra work' to document my sources and I just answer, 'wrote too many thesis papers in school - it is ingrained!'

Thanks again.
