|RIPFinderRIP||RE: Limmie Braggs|
Hi there! Okay, here's something that is strange. Outside this cemetery totally by itself is a single marker that has been destroyed by a tree falling. There is no evidence of a name or dates. Just the bottom of the stone with some biblical passage or something. It's by itself so it may be possible but impossible to know for sure....thanks for all your research. There is another Pryor Cemetery called Pryor Hill also. It too is abandoned cemetery but behind a house and would be very difficult to get to...

Thanks for the message. Please keep in touch and let me know if I can be of assistance with tracing anyone in Limestone County and the Mexia area. In short, to find the descendants of one family/surname in the African American community, one has to trace almost all families in the community since they often intermarried. My research has helped bridge the gaps in terms of knowledge of connections, as well as helped people discover kin that are living today. Hope all is well. Have an awesome day!

Her death Certificate has Annie as her first name was that a nickname, I went ahead and changed the name as you requested, happy to do so, and would transfer her over to you if you want.

I have connected Mattie and Nathaniel to their parents Bossie and Maggie Davis as you requested.
If you would like their memorials transferred to you, I would be happy to do. I am not related; I was just out at Campground trying to document the cemetery.

That would be the best guess that ours is the old Shiloh and yours is the New Shiloh.
Do you know someone that could tell us where the new one is?
Would Judge Whitfield know? He was wanting to go with us, he though he had some relatives there? Their was a Thersa Whitfield mentioned on Priscilla McKinney death cert.
I live in Waco, but was from that area.

|Terry Downes||Shiloh Cemetery|
We need help on the location of your Shiloh Cemetery. We are in the process of cleaning up a Shiloh Cemetery on a ranch north of Pleasant Grove near the Brazos River. Yours list burials as late as 2006 and 2004. Ours do not show any burials that late.
Yours has some hints of Wilderville and Reagan??
Our GPS Coordinates are 31.1444171, -96.869743
We would appreciate you help on this problem

|Peg Gueringer||Misc Info for George Hawkins research|
The maiden name of Blanche Thomson is Blanche Hines, daughter of Capt. Thomas Jefferson Hines, sr and Nancy J Young. This might help in your search.
Your work is very thorough. Nicely done.
From "Historical Sketch of Forreston by Colonel Bill Cox 22 May 1926, p23
"In 1852 or 1853 there was born to a slave mother in the quarters of General Tarrant a boy child. In his childhood days he was a waiting boy for the General and has been a citizen of the community most of his life. The party referred to is George Hawkins, a man respected by both white and colored because of his life of strict integrity…." "It is said that the late Earl Fort provided in his will that George Hawkins should have a home on the Fort estate [originally part of the Tarrant plantation] during his life."
After the death of Tarrant in 1858, his widow Mary Danforth married Tarrant's partner James Em. Hawkins. More info available.

|4th great grand daughter||Washington Spivey|
I am interested in any history on one Anna "Annie" Spivey, who was married to Jim/James Spivey. Anna "Annie" was born in 1876 and died in 1955 and is buried in Simmons Cemetery, which is just above Black's cemetery. If you are related or know of her or any of her family I would be happy to hear from you. I believe Annie had a daughter by the name of Ruth if my memory is correct and Annie lived on Betty St. back then while she was alive, now it is called St. Helena St. You can contact me at
firstname.lastname@example.org or through Find A Grave.

I just finished adding another 740+ names to the Lincoln Cemetery. About 1/2 way through attaching the tombstone photos. Will get back on the project after Christmas is over. Enjoy.

I'd read the stories about that one not long ago. It's entirely heartbreaking.
I ran across a DC the other week for someone buried in a cemetery that may have suffered a similar fate:

|Jon Edens||Misplaced Memorials|
I just wanted to let you know that you have misplaced a couple of your memorials.
Jesse Tabb (memorial #134253045) is actually located at Rosewood Cemetery.
Annie E Tabb McPherson (memorial #134183333) is located at Rosewood Cemetery and she already has a memorial there (#93035447)
Jesse E Pruitt (memorial #134274276) is actually located at Golden Gate Cemetery and already has a memorial there (#58796439)
I have been researching the Conroe Community Cemetery for the past three years and I know folks can become confused when the death certificate says "Conroe Cemetery," but most of the time it is referring to either Rosewood Cemetery, which is literally a stone's throw from Conroe Community Cemetery, or at Conroe Memorial Cemetery.
Anyway, if you would be so kind as to remove these three from the Conroe Community Cemetery as I am working on getting a correct list of burials there for restoration and a Texas Historical Cemetery designation.
