Are you a relative of Elisha Gray? Or a volunteer who coincidentally shares the last name?
Elisha was my great-great-grandfather.

|Calvin Gray||Gray History|
My name is Calvin Gray. Rumor has it that my great great grandparents had died in the Chicago fire. Unknown of their names. Their son, Henry Allen Gray was an orphan. He was born ca.1869 in Chicago. Just wondering if we are related to his parents somehow. My Dad had mentioned Elisha Gray from Chicago and he always wanted to know about any other relation that might have lived in Chicago at that time. I have a great family history except for my Gray side. Any information would be great. Thanks for your time!! Calvin Gray

|JoyB||John Sidney "Sam" Gilreath|
Thank you so much for the correction. It's interesting to note his father was referred to as "Billy". Sam's first son was named for his father and went by "Wes". Wes's son's #1 was Johnnie Clarence #2 William Homer #3 Wesley Sidney. They continually reused the men's names.

Bradley, Esther Wampler Griffith is both our 4th great grandmother. I noticed you have her middle name listed as Katherine. I am wondering where you found that information, because I cannot seem to locate any documentation listing that as her middle name. Also, I believe that Hattie was her nickname. It is listed as such on her headstone, although other documentation lists it as Hettie. What do you think?
Thanks in advance,

Daniel Vaughn here. I am a descendant of Robert and Mary "Polly" Yarborough Gray. Their son Robert (who our family has always referred to as Robert, Jr.) married first Polly McClain. She died in 1820. "Jr" moved to Williamson County, TN and married Martha Patsy Holland in 1822. My line is through their son Samuel Thrower, his son Thomas Eugene, his son Robert Viston, his daughter Claytie Rose Gray Vaughn (My Mom). She died this past April, age 91.
I inherited her family history/genealogy efforts after helping her the past five years. My wife and I have been to the Shelby County Courthouse and copied several records that show a close relationship between the Gray and McClain families (Several show Robert, Jr and his brother-in-law, Thomas McClain, signing documents as witnesses to deeds). Also, I payed a quick visit to the Mount Salem Cemetery. I knew it was close to the area where the Gray's lived and seeing old markers hoped to find some I could photograph and use. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the McClain names.
While researching the Gray-McClain connection I came across your Find-a-Grave memorial for Elizabeth McClain, daughter of Robert and Polly. After reading your information at the memorial I was hoping you might be able to fill in some of my blank areas.
- Do you by chance have information on Polly McClain Gray, who her parents are, where she is buried?
- Do you know where our GGGG-Gparents Robert and Polly Gray are buried? (I have come across a marker for a Mary Gray in Parkeville, Parke Co., IN, that states the internment records show that it is Mary Yarborough Gray, widow of Robert Gray.) If this is our Mary do you know why she was in IN?
- Do you know where the Gray ancestral farm was at? I have seen a land grant map of that area south of Shelbyville, KY but nothing that indicates where Robert and Polly lived.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you use ancestry.com I invite you to view our VAUGHN FAMILY TREE owned by dickievaughn13. Your input is welcome if anything does not seem correct.
Also, if we can ever assist you with information or photos in the greater Nashville, TN area please do not hesitate to ask.

|Kathy Phelan||Gray Family|
It's been a while since I sent you a message. I came across a question.
William Sylvester Gray - he is listed as having 3 children in the 1900 census: Bessie, Bertha & Arthur.
I have info on Bessie. No info on Bertha and a big question on Arthur. The census says Arthur was born in Sep 1896. Who is Arthur Sylvester Gray who was born in 1917 and died in 1936?
Thanks for all your assistance.

My name is Robb Cass. Alice Crumbliss Senter was my 4th great aunt. I came across your submission and picture of Alice and Tandy and it says the original was taken in 1845. I was wondering if you might know who has the original. I would love to get a copy. It is an amazing picture and one of the oldest taken of a Crumbiss.
I really appreciate any inforamtion you may have.

|Betsy ||Conner and Shane tombstones, Broadus Cemetery, Douglas County, IL|
I am in the process of taking photos of as many tombstones as I can at Broadus Cemetery, Douglas County, Illinois. I took the liberty of uploading photos to your memorial pages for Andrew H. Conner and Mary Ann Shane Conner in that cemetery. I also have a photo of the stone for Elizabeth Shane to add. If you would prefer to have these deleted, of course that can be done.

Fancy seeing your name on the Petersons. I was putting pictures with text and came across the name Peterson and that was the day.
It was Nancy Jane Gray & Thomas Rader that did me in. Sarah Ellen Rader m William Thomas Peterson. I think I found their daughter Alma. There is an Alma C. Peterson in LUBC on the stone with Spurgeon Barrow. No obits appear in the Bloomington newspaper. I would have expected one. Perhaps Alma married again after Spurgeon died (1929). She died 01/10/1945.

I am researching William Conner - my 3rd Great Grandfather.. but I have some conflicting info that I would like to resolve. I have sent a photo request to see the actual grave marker. I have a lot of data on ancestry.com and have run into a dead end with William. Please email me at email@example.com
My ancestor is from William's second marriage to mary Cook/Stowers/Dillon/Wann. They had a son named Zephaniah... Zeph is my 2nd Great Grandfather.
According to your information - he was married 3 times... however the dates don't seem to quite match up for that to be accurate. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thank you very much.

|Mary Ann Tarkington Johnson||Keller Cemetery|
The cemetery is now in the process of being cleaned and graves restored. It had deteriorated very badly. Also the cemetery will be maintained so it should not get again in the shape it is now.
Hopefully any graves you are interested in will be located and restored to where it can be added on Find A Grave.
Lou at the Monroe County History Center who is in charge of all the above gave me the address where donation for the project can be sent. Should you or any family be interested in sending a donation to the Keller Cemetery project let me know and I'll send you the address.
