Photos on Find a Grave
FYI the reason Find A Grave has rules regarding photos is there has been some Find A Grave contributors "borrowing" photos donated to find a grave and without permission from the person who took/contributed those photos to other sites.

I have found several photos I contributed to Find A Grave on other websites, photos I know no one else had and photos I never gave permission to be shared. Photos of my family and my husbands gggrandmother. Sad thing if you want to go look at your own photo(s) you have to pay to join the other website.

RE: Bowers family
Carolynn,
Have loved finding the Chenoweth info, lots about the massacre. Varying reports have my 5great grandfather Thomas as having already been captured so not there for the massacre or being taken during it. Have you checked the Draper manuscripts with the letters from various Richard Chenoweth descendants re the massacre? Really enjoyed reading them.

Dr Homer Bowers
Hello, my father sent me your request for the location of Dr. Homer Bowers' house located in New Ross, Indiana. I obtained the photo from a book that was published in 1976. All that is said about Dr. Homer Bowers was that he was a physician in New Ross, and then a photo of his house, but it doesn't say where the house is located. I am very sorry that I can not help you out here. Thanks for the Email, Marcus

RE: Bowers family
Merton Bowers was my grandfather's 3rd cousin, but on the Chenoweth side, his grandmother Sarah Chenoweth Bowers being the first cousin of my great great grandmother Lucretia Chenoweth Hain. Don't know if that still counts as a Bowers cousin, but we are cousins.

Thank you so much for getting this photo! I really appreciate it and it IS the right person. I was never sure what name the family put on her stone so I requested by full name. Thanks again!

James Ruan, Jr.
His Philadelphia death certificate, found here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JDG9-6J6
says he was buried in "Palmer Cemetery", now known as Kensington Burial Ground. It also said he was a widower.

I found his Civil War Union Army records here:
http://www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us/archive.asp?view=ArchiveItems&ArchiveID=17&FID=1386747&LID=1386796&FL=R&Page=1
I presume they are the same person because the Ruan name seems so rare; James was the only Ruan in any Pennsylvania regiment, and he enrolled both times at Philadelphia.

Here is the memorial I created for him.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=91803446
Does this jibe with your information on him?

There is a Ruan Street just down the block.

I do so like to honor our Civil War veterans.
