Henry Birge - 1902 guy
Thanks again for trying to find the 1902 Henry Birge. I contacted the memorial holder and asked them to delete it since you indicated there is no one there with those dates and it wasn't in the Oak Hill book. They deleted the memorial. Thanks for the look up, you saved me waiting until Oct when I get back home to do it. Keep up the good work.

Hi! Sue

I didn't post the info I passed on to get a photo.
The person who created the memorial is responsible for the info I passed on to assit any volunteer.
I have left a message for her so I guess I'll just have to wait until I hear back from her as to where she got the burial info. Thanks so much for helping us out there. It is most appreciated. Thank you!

RE: Chamberlain at Oak Hill
Hi Sue,

No, I haven't been out -- too cold. There are a few requests for Oak Hill on the site so maybe in a month or so it'll be nice enough to go take pix. I'll let you know.

Lewis Chamberlain
Hi Sue,

We have the same duplicate situation with Lewis. His death date is Jun. 30, 1949 -- let me know if you'd rather update your memorial or delete it.

Thanks, Shirley

Chamberlain at Oak Hill
Hi Sue,

Just going over some records and noticed we both have created a memorial for Sarah Chamberlain. The only difference is that I have her maiden name (Spark) and her complete death date (8/5/1946) which were in the Oak Hill book. If you want to update your memorial with this info, I'll delete mine -- or you could delete your memorial and leave mine. Up to you -- let me know. Thanks.

Hi, Sue,

Not only permanent, but searchable! I was a bit surprised to find a couple of my notes coming up in google searches. So, the moral is: don't put anything in one of these notes that you don't want completely public.

Just use my personal email address - that will take us out of the public eye.

Thanks, again!

Photo from Oak Hill
Hi, Sue,

Thank you so much for the photo of Fanny (Mead) Chamberlain's marker! This is the first I've been online today, so I just got your other notes as well as Shirley's. I really appreciate your help! I am just so glad to have found some of them - now if I only knew where the rest of the family is hiding! Don't rush about getting back over there - I don't expect these folks are going anyway any time soon.

Thanks, again.

Chamberlains in Oak Hill Cemetery
Hi, Sue and Shirley,

I am the one who requested the photos for markers for Fanny and Andrew Chamberlain in Oak Hill Cemetery. Thanks, Sue, for trying to find them for me!! And thank you, Shirley, for all of your very valuable information.

I am the historian for the descendants of Alexander Wilson and Jane Armour, and am trying to find as many of their descendants as possible. Fanny J (Mead) Chamberlain and her husband, Lewis P Chamberlain, were both great-grandchildren of Alexander and Jane.

Fanny's dates were 1839-1889. Lewis was born in 1833, but I have no date of death or burial place for him. Andrew J Chamberlain, 1857-1902, was their son and, from the information I inherited as historian, was supposed to be in Oak Hill. He married a lady named Charlotte, who was born in 1867. I have no date of death or burial place for Charlotte. Andrew and Charlotte had a child who was born and died between 1887 and 1900. They also had a daughter, Cora, who was born in 1887. I don't have any further information on Cora, or a burial place for either her or her sibling.

I have found some of the Wilson family Chamberlains, but still have quite a few more to find. I know there are a lot of Chamberlains who aren't Wilson family members in MI, but I would be very interested in other Chamberlains that you might happen across. Alternatively, I could provide a rather long list of all the Chamberlains who were in MI at some point. That list would include Marvin Howard Chamberlain, former Mayor of Detroit, who died in 1923, but I haven't been able to find where he is buried. For your amusement, MH also married another descendant of Alexander and Jane - guess it was a family tradition.

Thanks again, and please let me know how I might be able to help you.

Robert Ruple
Hi Sue,

The burial book showed Robert E as the name of record but then had the notation that the marker said Robert Vaughn. Not knowing which was correct, I just typed what I saw. I made the change as requested, and would be glad to transfer the memorial to you, if you like.

RE: Oak Hill Cemetery
Hi Sue,

The cemetery books for the old sections are in several libraries -- e.g. Orion Twp, Rochester Hills and the Oakland Co Genealogy Soc library at the Oakland Co Law Library on Telegraph (at the Court House). Probably other places, too. The only place I've seen the book for the new sections is at the OCGS/Law library. The OCGS sells them -- $25 each, I think -- their website is www.ocgsmi.org. They have monthly meetings with speakers -- and sell the books at the meetings. Info is on the website.

The date of Andrew's death tells me that if he's buried at Oak Hill, he'd be in the old section. But he's not listed in the book so it's possible he's there but not recorded. The book was compiled from several sources and is not complete. There are about 50 Chamberlain's in the book and another 15 or so Chamberlin's -- but no Andrew and no one with a 1902 death date.

Oak Hill Cemetery
Hi Sue,

I see you are a new volunteer and claimed a couple of photo requests for Oak Hill. Just thought I'd let you know of a couple of projects going on.

A gal named Theresa Kinney is currently documenting and photographing all the stones in the old sections of Oak Hill (1-11) and I have just started doing the new sections (12-23). Both are long-term, time-consuming projects so feel free to claim any requests in the meantime and add the photos. I don't know how Theresa is proceeding with her task but I'm adding all the memorials this winter and will take photos to upload next spring.

Not sure if you have the Oak Hill burial books, but if not, I have them and would be glad to help you locate any graves you need to. For the 2 you claimed, Fanny is in section 3-108 but I don't see an Andrew in the book at all.
