RE: Sopers

Hello Tom,

It was my pleasure! In the fall, when the leaves are off the trees...say November...I hope to capture a better photo of the SOPER MONUMENT, and perhaps the Soper gravestones, as well. But, for now, you have something.

Best Regards,

Mike Cronk

Christie Trapp
Charles Soper - Oak Hill
You sent me a message about his burial in Oak Hill and that you visited his grave about a month ago.

I believe this cemetery plot is a secondary one. That is, a memorial only.

He is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery since he fell during a battle there in 1863 and was buried in the Nashville Cemetery and a marker placed there by the US Veterans Affairs. If he had been shipped home to Michigan, he would not have a marker in a National Cemetery, but a marker installed in Oak Hill.

I have made a parent link for him so that he appears twice on their memorials. I have to wait for the VA to respond to this request and they may end up transferring the memorial to me as they often do when they don't want to be bothered with edits.
