RE: Easter Hendrick
Thank you Darrell for the photo. I just hadn't had a chance to take one yet. Thank you so much, she is my grandmother and my sister and I just had a marker made for her grave after 90 years. We only new the area she was buried so we did it this way. Thanks again for the photo, Judy Vanhutton

Darrell, thanks for the great photo you added and the name. When did you take the picture? I know there are stones that need just the right light.

I enjoy the old cemeteries and have tried to find all the Confederate Vets in Greenhill and Leemont.

Keep up your good work.

Ed

A friend sent me the pic. It was pretty dark so I used a program to lighten it so the stone could be seen better. They didn't want their name linked to the pic. I asked about giving credit but was told, "No" to just use it if I could get it to lighten.
I do a lot of work on restoring old family pics so it wasn't hard at all to lighten that one a bit so it showed the stone better.
Be safe out there among the stones.

Thanks you so much for your kind words. Which memorial did you my picture on? I really can't bring to mind any one that I've taken that was as impressive as what you saw, but thank you.
Please let me know.
Be safe out there among the stones.

My apologizes. The NC memorial is a cenotaph. I just read :This is a cenotaph memorial. Buried Old City Cemetery, Lynchburg City, Virginia, Plot: Grave 7 Row 1 Lot 169 - See Memorial# 126652480 for burial location. That was in the the flower contributions and not listed otherwise.

James E. Gouldman
Hello,
Are you a Gouldman descendant, or other name related to Gouldman? I will try to add James E. in his proper status. Thank you for your work. My daughter is a descendant. I am trying to find any tidbit of info that the Gouldman ancestor was the father of Edward Gouldman of Essex then Appomattox Counties, hoping to prove a Patriot ancestor. She has 43 now, and the going is getting rougher.

Thank you again.

Go ahead and post the pictures. When you do, I will contact the manager and let her know to add a note that there is no stone for that memorial. That way no one else will look. Thank you for your time.

William McClendon
Darrell,
I am very new at this. Do you prefer transferring an individual or posting the information.

William A, McClendon was my great uncle and I have been researching him for 30 years. Most of my information is documented from the National Archives.

Born: 1842 Stewart County, Ga
Died: May 25, 1864 Lynchburg Va.

If you transfer William McClendon I will be happy to update his memorial.

Research
I'm trying to get a headstone for my GG Grandfather Isaac Grant. They (the feds) expect me to document where he was buried. And you know what clear, concise records were kept during the war! :-) Anyway, he died in Chimbarazo, but was not buried in any of the usual places (I believe him to have been brought home to Pittsylvania County, and be in the family plot)...but can't prove it!) Any ideas of contacts I should make in Richmond area? (Already tried Krick at National Park, Oakwood, Hollywood, & Riverview) He was captured and POW at Gettysburg, Pt. Lookout, etc., exchanged almost a year later, returned to his unit and inside 3 weeks, shot at Drewry's Bluff & died 2 days later.

RE: John Tyree
Hi, going over old messages and found your post. How would I get ahold of the grace street cemetery records or person to see about obtaining more information on the tyree's that are interred there?

RE: Acree's Burial,
Darrell, Thank you very much, I have been able to do anything, the Old City web site is now under re-construction, so I am unable to do anything until it is re-done. It is suppose to be done sometime this month. However if there is anything you want of me I would be glad to help anyway I can. As soon as the site is up and working I will get back to work on the soldiers buried there. Ted

Just stopping by to say THANK-YOU! for the great photo of my grgrgrgrandfather's Headstone.
The sacrifice of your time is appreciated by many. I do totally understand your frustration, and am sorry that so many folks don't realize the great value of this site, and the importance of sharing. I'm with you in regards to the "numbers people." They are the ones who spoil it for so many others.
My best to you,
Joyce # 47404499

Darrell, I will do all I can to help, my progress was slowed by the death of my 101 year old mother, it was hard to get myself back into my work, On these soldiers graves, but I am doing much better now. Ted

RE: Levi and Rebekah Kemp
Hi Darrell - Thank you for the kind offer to transfer Lucy Kemp Newhall's memorial to me. Some of the members of my extended family have lived in or around Lynchburg, but to the best of my knowledge I am not related to Levi and Rebekah. I'm happy just knowing that you were able to link her to her parents; it isn't necessary to transfer her memorial. best regards from Vermont -Deb

Thanks for the information. That narrows it down a bit. We had heard through the years that he was buried in Lynchburg.

Thanks again, Tina

RE: Mary Liggan
you did not need to delete your memorial, I am not related, I am a history buff, but thank you anyway. Yes. I deleted my email address because people can be so mean and negative, and I just don't need that stuff in my life. Life is short, be happy, because later we all know what happens, and then... was all that negativity really necessary? :-)
