|Roxana Tea||J. Cummins|
Sylvia, The photo for Joel Cummins is great. I owe you many more thanks. Sorry about the bounced messages; I had some difficulties with Comcast when some changes were made to the account. Their computer apparently thought my account was "dead" and it (the computer) deleted my e-mail account (so the tech said). Took over a month of back and forthing to get it straightened out . Anyway the e-mail address of < firstname.lastname@example.org > is now back in business. The whole thing was very frustrating.

Re: J. Cummins (F.A.G. No.: 62596978) b.t.w. the 1880 census spells his surname as Cummings !
Thanks again for your help, especially at this time of year when it is busy and this year extremely cold (even for us here in the N.W). I happened to be up at about 3:30 this morning and the outside temp was 9.5 ° - and I have a suspicion the furnace had been "running" all night. (Poor thing is probably out of breath by now.) That temp is just a wee bit below the record 10 ° for us - and we can blame (as we refer to it :-) the "Arctic Express".
Cleaning the marker in the freezing weather cannot have been a pleasant experience. Hope you didn't freeze your hands.
Anyway, just to give you some background regarding J (Joel) Cummins for when you are able to visit the historical society; Catharine was at least his 2nd wife. She was born Catharine RICHMOND, parents unknown at this time, and married first Chauncey BLANCHARD son of Michael and Frances, aka Fanny. Michael & Fanny were my 3rd great grandparents. The 1860 Whitley county census gives Joel (b. Ohio) age 30 and Catharine (1860 says b. New York - 1880 says Ohio) as age 27, each b. ca. 1830 and 1833 respectively. There are 7 (seven) children listed from ages 9 through 1/12. Melissa, the 9 year old, I presume is a dau. of Joel, although her b. place is given as Ind. which makes that suspect; next is Chas. M., son of Catharine and Chauncey and my g.grandfather.
If you need further info just let me know. I've been unable to unearth alot - but I can give you what all I have.
I look forward to seeing your future photo posts.

Sylvia, - thank you so much for this photo of J. Cummins' grave marker (Whitley County Indiana). It's the right surname and the right first initial - even the birth date is a close fit. All that remains is for me to prove it's the man I want. Did you happen to notice if there was a stone for his wife Catharine, or Cath-e-rine next to his, or nearby? Nothing shows up for her in the Find A Grave index. Thanks again, and happy holidays. Roxana L. Tea, email@example.com.

Yes I am a Gurchiek. Thelma was an aunt by marriage, so I am of no blood relationship to her. She married my father's brother.
I guess I would need to know which photos you want to copy and why - they are already affixed to the grave...so where do you want to use them?

I was especially interested in the death year for Reason Shaffer...I have a record stating 1904 and an obit of 1905. It looks like 1904 to me....what do you see?
