RE: Edward Freeman photo
We can be pretty sure he died Nov 15, 1907. I think he was 63 years old when he first entered the home on Dec 17, 1895. So his birth year should be about 1832, not 1798. That's my best guess and you should edit the birth year to 1832 if you agree.

Best regards,
Wade Davis

RE: Bennetts
Richard Key (Dock) Bennett is my 2x grandfather. I've been through Oakland Cemetery a few times since I have several relatives buried there from both of my grandparents sides. I've been through most of my pictures and haven't come across Samuel Bennett. Now I have a reason to go back to Trenton. :) There are many Bennetts buried in Rose Hill in
Humboldt and several in Center near Fruitland. Fruitland is where the Bennetts were born and raised, all the way down to my grandfather. I know of only Willis and Rebecca Bennett coming from North Carolina. I have not been able to get anything before Willis and Rebecca. I've heard Halifax County, NC or there about. And we -may- be related to the Bennetts from "The Bennett Place" in North Carolina, I haven't found a connection yet.
I don't live that far from Humboldt so I will look around for your Samuel there as well.
So glad to find a cousin! Take care.

RE: Oates photos
You are so welcome, a lot of the people in that cemetery are my ancestors, i.e. Weer, Dickey, Falls, Oates, Berry, Crow so I wanted to make sure the whole cemetery was documented, to bad there are so many stones that you can't read anymore.

RE: Jasper Wooten Freeman
I'm not sure if he is or not. My Freemans began in Wilkes Co in 1800 and migrated west through Newton and Morgan and then Carroll Counties through the early 1800s, then up to Fannin Co in 1860, then west along the Trail of Tears. He may be distantly related but since I do not know the link and you are more closely related, I'll transfer him to you.

RE: Josie Mays McCown Perry
Excellent Obituary for Joe, see his daughter in the census Lorine may be Lona Yeargin, and they must have had another daughter after 1930, Verna McCown DeBerry...

I had Alice's maiden name as Morrison, I cannot remember where I got that?

Here are the children as I see it left me know if it is correct before I update Josie's memorial:
1. Alice and John Trimble:
Johnny C, Frank J, Harland, Joe D Trimble/McKown.

2. Alice and Abern McCown:
James, Martha E, Minnie O, Lona M "Lorine", and Verna McCown.

3. Abner and Josie Mays McCown:
No Children.

4. Gladys, Josie and James C Perry:
Elizabeth, James R, Charles R, Walter Clay Perry.

Glaydys and Walter give me some concern...

RE: Josie Mays McCown Perry
think I'm getting brain freeze :o). Was still studing your last post... I saw the discrepancy, Bowie Co TX is where my Elias White arrived in 1846, I'd swear we are related to most of the old families there... Our roots are very deep in Bowie.

Elias's brought with him from Union Co SC, the Harland family of Bowie Co, Bobo's, in Bowie and Cass, & Miller Co AR, and his family married into these families in SC, and the Trimble family of Bowie Co... (see how I get brain freeze)...

OK, I did notice the 1st two children and possibly the 3 in the 1930 census, that their father was born in TN, that would make them Allises (Alice) children from her first marriage...

Did not find 1920, checked OK, AR, and TX, may have been living with another family... and the census takes messed up McCown, may using another spelling.

Will try to lay this out in front of me and sort the children out, before updating Josie Bio...

Still thinking - Mike

RE: Josie Mays McCown Perry
Was looking at a 1930 Census for Abern McCown in Red River TX, wonder if he is the former hub of Josie, he has a large family, 1 stepson, born abt 1914, so that wouldn't match the marriage date of Josie and Mr McCown...

The Find A Grave manager of Josie's memorial made the update yesterday 47060945.

You stated that Walter and Mertle were Jim Perry's children from his prior marriage, I had a Gladys McCown born 1918? not Mertle... where did you see her?

Let me know about the current Bio of Josie's, I'm tending toward your belief that the two children in doubt were actually, Jim's children and not Josie's and McCown's... Mike White

Josie Mays McCown Perry
Hi, thank you for bringing this to my attention and locating the 1940 census. I looked at the 1940 census, Jim & Josie had 3 of the 5 children together, Walter Perry is a mistake, or they adopted him from Josie's Prior Marriage to Auburn McCown, Walter should have been a McCown, not a Perry, the 5th child listed on the 1940 census is a granddaughter.

I have removed the paragraph linking Lula Mays to Jim Perry, I have sent a Find A Grave request to have Josie linked to her husband and mother, and added a BIO of her 1940 census family, and info on her 1st marriage, and the 2 children from the McCown marriage, Gladys b. 1918 and Walter b.1921. Very much appreciate, Mike White

RE: John Oates Jr.
Hi Leslie, I miscalculated. John jr is 6th generation great grandpa. Starts with John jr, his son John Oates, his son Thomas Oates, his mom Anna Oates Serves, her dad Franklin Servis, his daughter Lessie Servis Allen, her daughter Pearl Allen Palmer which is my husbands grandma, his moms mom. Ive been doing our family tree and my mom in law has helped a bit by giving me some info i needed like Anna Serves. They accidentally spelled her families name wrong on her stone. It should have been spelled Servis but instead spelled Serves. I wasnt sure if that was her til my mom in law told me that. Then recently found the others memorials on here. Then when i saw you sponsored John Jr, i was happy bout that. So just in case you werent related, i felt i needed to thank you. I thank you even though you are related too. : )
Im glad to meet you as a distant cousin. Thank you for letting me know how you are related too.

Hugs, Missie
