Hi Debbie,
I had requested a photo of George Lucas grave as his obit said he was buried in Hope Cemetery. Sorry you were not able to locate the grave. Is it possible he was buried in the pauper section? Thanks for all you did.

RE: Mattie Strawn
Opera Debbie,
That's ok, about just getting back to me about Mattie Strawn's stone. I guess there is always a posibility of there being two Mattie's. You might have to dig deeper for that information.
Have a Grand day!

Mattie Strawn
OperaDebbie,
I was checking over my pictures to delete them off of my disc and came across a picture for Martha "Aunt Mattie" Strawn in Hope Cemetery in Salem, Ohio. The picture you put on her site is the wrong picture for the cemetery plot. I posted the right pictures - just thought you would like to know so that you can remove the wrong plot picture.
Have a fantastic weekend!

RE: John Raugh, Boatman cemetery
Thanks Debbie. I've been doing transcriptions of Civil War soldier gravestones that are on findagrave.com. I verify the info against two other websites: www.nps.gov and www.civilwarindex.com. Next, I submit to a 3rd site, www.suvcwdb.org. It's simply a volunteer job- they thank me for my input but I don't get paid. It's common to find discrepancies, mainly the spelling of a soldier's name. I have a sneaking hunch that many of these young men that enlisted in the army never had any formal education and thus were illiterate (unable to read and write).

So far, I've submitted over 250 Civil War graves. This gives me something constructive to do.

Best Regards,
DFD

Thanks for the article on the McCaves. Pretty neat story. I cannot figure out how to copy that and his photo and add to memorial though. For some reason it just wont copy. Take care...Kim

RE: Jennie Strawn, Hope cemetery, Salem, OH
Hello OperaDebbie,

Thank you so very much, for the "Strawn" family headstones that you were able to get in "Hope Cemetery". Jennie (Strawn) was married to a Smith. Martha "Mattie" was never married and the last of the siblings to die. We have letters she wrote to her niece Ada, out great grandmother. I'm not surprised, that no headstone was placed for her, with siblings already gone and many of the nieces and nephews had moved away, there was no one left to see that she had one. Ohio was our 2011 vacation destination, for our annual headstone hunt and more family genealogy, but when my husband died in April (2011) everything else became moot. So I thank you again, with much appreciation. I still hope to get there someday.

The Best to You and Yours, Butterfly~Kisses

RE: Seever stones
You are welcome. Yes most of them were in the same row and in some cases right next to each other. The cemetary is not large so it took very little time to locate them, plus it was a very nice summer day here in Wisconsin.
