RE: Emma Weir
Yes, I would be very happy to enter the obits and info that you have for Emma Weir. It would make her memorial a little bit more special. Go ahead and e-mail me what you have. Thanks a lot for wanting to add this info to her memorial.

Hi Karen,
I see that you manage the page for Elizabeth Hamilton Taylor Place. Do you happen to know who here parents were? I've got a couple of different Elizabeth Hamiltons I'm trying to straighten out. Thank you for your help!

Stephen Decatur Place
Hello Karen. I've been doing civil war research on my family for sometime and have recently learned that Stephen Decatur Place is buried in Andersonville National Cemetery which is different that Georgia National Cemetery you have listed under him. This photo was taken and location verified by Kevin Frye. He also has site on that cemetery's page. Thank you in advance for the correction.

RE: Sidney Place relationship to Lucy Place Root?
The Places are next up on my winter/spring research agenda. I'm often in Marietta, Wash. Co. Ohio where they are from, and will see what I can find next time I'm there. I'm sure there is a link to your Places, too!

RE: Sidney Place relationship to Lucy Place Root?
Hi Karen-

Where did the John Place (b. 1744) and the others live? My Lucy was in Decatur Twp., Washington Co. Ohio by the time of her marriage there to William Root in 1821. There is a Sidney Place also, of the same generation as Lucy, and this John Place, a Rev. War soldier by 1760 in Rochester, N.H. (different birthdate and place in N.H. from the John Place you have; Memorial# 38136340). I suspect too that the Lucy in Illinois and the others are all connected somehow; but do you know where they came from in Ohio? There are other Places in other Ohio Cos., too! I have seen a list of some of the Decatur Twp. John Place's children, and it doesn't list Lucy, but does list Sidney. Since Lucy and William Root named their 3rd son "Sidney," (my gg-grandfather)I suspect he very likely was Lucy's brother. One of these days we'll get these Places straightened out!

RE: Sidney Place relationship to Lucy Place Root?
Were you able to locate any information about Lucy Place Root's parentage in your Place family records?

Sidney Place relationship to Lucy Place Root?
I am researching the Root family of Decatur Twp., Washington Co. Ohio. William Root married Lucy Place in Decatur Twp. in 1821. I am trying to determine what Place family Lucy belongs to. She was born in Vermont ca. 1798. She is buried in Old Decatur Chapel cemetery, Decatur Twp., the same cemetery John Place, who you have as Sidney Place's father, is buried. Do you have any further information on the children of John Place or if Lucy is related to Sidney? Lucy and William Root's 3rd son, my gg-grandfather, was named Sidney, by the way, so I think there may be a family connection.

Husband of Susan Abigale Place
Good news. I have identified the husband of your Susan Abigale Place. He was ELI E. GILBERT (1837-1861), son of Stephen Gale Gilbert, and grandson of Eli Gilbert, Sr. (1789-1875). Eli E. and Susan were married in Oct 1858 and had two children. When you have time, can you please correct/delete Susan Place as the "wife" of Eli Gilbert, Sr. on his Memorial Page. Thank you.

Isaac Place
Hi Karen,
I don't know anything about Isaac, but I will try to find an obit for you next week. Those in the local paper from that time frame are usually fairly informative.

Martha Ann Place Smith
Karen, I see you made a memorial for her under the name Place. I had made this one earlier, and I did not know her maiden name was Place. You can delete mine if you wish, I don't mind. Are any of the other I made there Places? Rosemary

RE: Isaac M Place
So to verify, Isaac Place died in 1889, not 1875? I'm not sure where I got 1875 - perhaps a book or incorrect records. Thank you for linking the children - every little bit helps!
