Hi Frank, Was wondering if you are familiar with the Chapin Cemetery in Pittsfield? Andrew and Molly Spafford as well as their son John and wife Sally are buried there. You can find them via Find A Grave. Bet you know about it already, but just in case. I linked up alot of the Chapins. Historical fun. I keep trying to get all of Stephen and Olive's children linked and photos on. Then I found an EXTENSIVE Aylsworth pocket in the Bainbridge Afton area. It is a never ending hobby as you know. Hope you both are well.

RE: Myrtle Eva PHILLIPS Dockstader
Hello Frank,

So far I found her mother, Jennie married Oscar Johnson she is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich, Jennie Phillips Johnson 1866-1951 # 117280740. Could not find her obit, but in The Norwich Sun Publication: 24 Nov 1950 - Norwich, New York : " Mrs. Jennie Johnson has her 84th Anniversary " and also in The Norwich Sun, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1951 : Last Rites Held For Jennie P. Johnson. Both articles mention Mrs. George Leon Dockstader as daughter.

Have a " Happy New Year " Ingrid.

RE: Catherine Jennings
Hi Frank,
Here are a few answers.
There was no marker visible. IF there was a small flat one it could have sunk into the ground. Most likely there was no marker which is not uncommon. People didn't have a lot of money back in the day. Some didn't feel it was a necessary expense. Talk to the Cemetery about the stone hopefully the grave is in permenant care status if not (would be Annual care) you would have to make up funds to make it current plus a foundation fee. Now if there is room for more burials (Check with the Cemetery) the person(s) must be related to the owner of the grave(s). Hope this helps.

Frank--I did a memorial page for Herbert Nelson and posted the photo on it. If this is your relative I will transfer the memorial page to you.--James Corey

Hi Frank----I got the wrong Herbert. I found Herbert Nelson instead of Herbert George and didn't see the difference until I had posted the photo on Herbert's memorial page and had to delete it. I will go back to look for the right Herbert as soon as I can, but in the meantime please submit your request to Find-A-Grave again. Sorry for the mistake----James Corey

RE: Phebe McLaughlin
sorry it took me some time to get back to you.

I did all the memorials with the readings from usgenweb . They have Phebe listed as daughter of David and Mary , but i should have realized the error in the dates . As you know there is no way to look at the grave stones. I did some search on ancestry. I found one family tree which has a Phebe listed as their daughter but with no dates.
So for now i have deleted the family links.

Greetings from Richfield Ingrid

Cemetery notes and/or description:
Update 5/25/99 From Kathy Huxtable: I located the "Old Day" Cemetery today. It is indeed within the town of Winfield on the grounds of the Tennessee Gas Company's Compressor Station on Tennessee Road. I spoke with a Mr. Anderson and he escorted me to the site. It has greatly changed since the DAR did the reading. When the gas line came through in about 1954, they established a substation southeast of West Winfield. As part of the deal to purchase the land for the site the town required that the company maintain the cemetery located on the property. The company hestitated without some modification as the cemetery was overgrown with brush and the company did not want to deal with the cleanup and mowing around all those stones. An agreement was eventually reached. The cemetery was cleared and all the stones, but one, were laid flat and covered with sod. The area is marked with 4 white posts at the corners and a bronze plaque listing the information from the stones. Peleg Brown's tombstone stands solitary in the lush grass. Next to it is a veteran's flag holder for the Revolutionary War. The name given to the cemetery on the plaque is Tennessee Road Cemetery. Kathy Huxtable. April 24, 1998

Hello Frank,
After seeing your exchange with Bob re Andrew Walling, it reminded me to send a note re Elizabeth Walling. You said you would like to get photos of all their monuments. Unfortunately, she is buried in an unmarked grave. She is buried down the knoll from her daughter, Marcia Freel Reed and her spouse Irvin Reed at Butternut Valley Cemetery.

Happy New Year to you and your family. Donna

Hammond graves
Hi Frank, In taking the photo of the gravestone for William Hammond and his wives, Leta and Viola, I'm wondering if you happened to notice a gravestone for William's brother, Leland D Hammond (1881-1931)-- or for their parents Sarah "Sally" Walling Hammond (1851-1923) and William Horace Hammond Sr (1850-1921), who also died in Burlington, Otsego, NY.
Thanks very much for the photo.

Hello Cousin,
Hi Frank, I'm glad to see you are doing some of these memorials. I've been skipping all around doing different ones, but admittedly to do them as I like to see them done takes time (even for retired folks!) Thanks for joining in. Dann is great about transferring. Take care, Donna
