Hi, thanks for responding. Yes, I would love to share information & pictures with you. I have quite bit of info on the James Oliver Ferguson end of the family I would be happy to share with you. I have that Find a Grave picture of Charles-the one that looks drawn. I wonder if you have a better picture. Between Shelley and Find a Grave, I have pictures of most of Charles's children. No, I certainly don't mind you posting that picture or any others that I have.

Hi, my name is Paul Ferguson. James Oliver & Irene Montgomery Ferguson were my grandparents. I actually labeled that picture you posted on Irene's site...no doubt you got it from Shelley. I'm interested in any information you've gathered on the Fergusons. Especially the whereabouts of James Oliver's first wife Nancy Jane Waggoner (Wagoner-Wagner). My dad always said no one in the family knew where she was buried.
I've traced the Ferguson family back quite a ways. I hope maybe we could compare/share information.

I WISH THEY WOULD LET US PUT THE DEATH DATE AS "AFTER 1920" OR AS WE DO IN GENEALOGY REPORTS "LIVING ON [DATE].
I COULD NOT FIND ANY OTHER INFO ON WM, WIFE 1 OR 2, OR OLIVIA.
I DID SPEAK WITH LARRY - HE SAYS THE DATE FOR THE OTHER MEMORIAL (CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH - THE ONE WHERE THE DEATH RECORD WAS DIFF THAN TS) WAS NOV. HE COULD NOT DISTINGUISH ANY OTHER INFO. YOU USUALLY GO WITH THE RECORD CLOSEST TO THE EVENT BUT WE STILL DON'T KNOW UNLESS WE GET THE ORIGINAL RECORD. ALSO, I MADE ERRORS ON MY DAD'S DEATH CERT AND THEY WOULD NOT LET ME MAKE ANY CHANGES. KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN YOU ARE ASKED TO COMPLETE A DEATH CERT. DON'T LET THEM PUSH YOU. GO HOME, GET THE INFO, THINK ABOUT IT, THEN COMPLETE THE FORM.

Since these people are yours, do you know who their parents are? I have a Thomas for Oliver. An Elijah signed the bond for Nancy, but I can find nothing more. Also is Perry on the tombstone. This is the first time I have seen what the P stood for.

|Bill Carter||More Rakes family info.|
John Marshall Rakes' parents are listed as Lewis Marshall Rakes and Nancy A. Smith Rakes on Rootsweb. Here's the link
It also lists Lewis Marshall Rakes mother as Celia Leffew which is another link between the Rakes and Leffew families. I believe Nancy Janney Rakes grandmother was also a Leffew. I also found 2 more of Robert and Nancy Rakes children and got them linked. I had heard growing up that they had 16 children; according to a page copied from a family bible that I have only 14 are listed. Perhaps the 16 includes the 2 infants that are buried at the family cemetery. One of the children I linked was Laura Rakes Young. Her and her husband are buried at Maple Grove church cemetery which is nearby the family cemetery. I posted photo reguests for both. My uncle told me that Aunt Laura was instrumental in getting all her grandparents graves marked towards the end of her life, so I think she would appreciate that we are interested in preserving family histories. I've also posted pictures of John Rakes (from WV) and Laura and Lillie Rakes Young. I've got pictures of some of Robert and Nancy's other children but I don't think they are on Findagrave. Also the Rootsweb page with the info on Lewis Rakes lists the family cemetery as the Samuel H. Ferguson cemetery so I guess the Ferguson's were there first lol.

|Bill Carter||RE: James M. Rakes & John M. Rakes|
Robert and Nancy Rakes had a son named John, born July 21, 1900. According to my uncle(who took me to the cemetery a few months ago and gave me a brief Rakes family history), John Rakes moved to West Virginia and lived there as an adult. My uncle didn't mention the John Rakes who is buried there being part of Robert and Nancy's family. Not sure who he belongs to.

|Bob Tuggle||RE: Rakes-Ferguson Cemetery|
When I search for Rakes Cemeteries in Virginia the Ferguson Cemetery does not appear. i can see why tyou would want no duplication but I want the Rakes family members to find it as easily as the Ferguson family.
So no. Not without further understanding of how this works for the Rakes descendents.
